Tear Down & More Casual Lace

Jeans: Lucky Brand | Top: Pleione | Shoes: Converse

As of last night we are officially in Fresno for The Big Fresno Fair. Our tear down in LA was long and tiring. Tony and his crew got the stands packed away between Sunday night and Monday morning. Since our setup here isn't as big as the other fairs we do, he sent 15 of our 19 trailers to be stored for the off-season. We stay in a house trailer during all of the fairs other than this one. It is a nice change of pace to do a little hotel living, but packing up the last four months of our lives and moving everything 250 miles was a bit of an undertaking. Our car was completely packed to the brim since I didn't plan as well as I thought I did the last time we went home. Apparently we are pretty high maintenance people. This was made extremely evident by the looks on other hotel guest's faces as we traipsed through the lobby with our lives on a cart. Tony and I carried two bags each, the bellman had a bag on his arm as well, and we still barely made it to the room without the cart falling over. Ridiculous! Anyways, the bottom line is that it all fits in the room just fine and we are settling in nicely.

I found the most comfortable jeans ever made!! On the comfort scale, they come in right under yoga pants which is pretty darn impressive. I love that all of the distressed parts have been reconstructed so you don't have to worry about them continuing to tear. Also, they are on sale for under $75 at the moment!! I have them paired here with a super soft, black, scoop-neck tee that has lace inlays in the front and back. It is constructed a bit wide which is nice and comfortable and it's long enough in the front to be slightly tucked if you want to show the top of your jeans. It is also on sale for $25. I slipped my chucks on with this outfit for a super casual look, but I have also worn these jeans with booties to give them a little kick.

A Little Marriage Reflection and Casual Lace

Warning: mushy post reflecting on a few things about my still-oh-so-new marriage to follow...

As of tomorrow, Tony and I have been married for a year-and-a-half and it has been, hands-down, the best year-and-a-half of my life. I am so proud of us and where our relationship is today. Our marriage has been packed full of highs and lows, and navigating this still-new life we are living together is something I find myself constantly working on. We have dealt with so many transitions in such a short period of time and that isn't always easy. Because of these transitions, I have come to realize how important it is to step back and fully evaluate everything we have gone through (good or bad) and appreciate the growth we have had in-turn. I have found that taking a moment to build each other up in appreciation for how far we have come together is such an important way to nurture our relationship. Our growth as a couple and keeping God at the center of our marriage gives me hope in this world where marriages seem to be disposable. We have come out of every challenge stronger and I am so thankful for that. It is such a sweet thing to be able to watch each other grow into a husband and a wife. Because we are not born into these roles, it is something that should be forever cherished and appreciated. My husband is such an incredible man. He is so kind, patient, loving, understanding and supportive (just to name a few). I cannot begin to express the gratitude and love I have for him. I am so excited to see what the next year-and-a-half holds for us and the next 100 years after that.

This teal tunic is great to throw on for a casual day. It is so lightweight and soft. It will be a great piece to layer with when it gets a little cooler. The lace detail down the back makes it a bit more special and for only $23 you can't really go wrong. Being so thin, it is a bit see through, but nothing that can't be fixed with a little cami. I, of course, have it paired with my favorite ankle jeans and transitional wedges here, but it is plenty long to eventually wear with leggings and boots. Bring on the cool weather already!!

A Dress In My Favorite Drink... Oh I Mean Color

Dress: Dee Elle | Heels: Steve Madden | Earrings: Charming Charlie | Lip Pencil: MAC in Spice | Lipstick: MAC in Taupe

We are officially four weeks out from fair season being over, and to say I'm excited is a complete understatement. I love fair season and being on the road but by the end of it I am very ready to be home. We close here, in LA, on Sunday and will be leaving for Fresno to begin setup there on Tuesday. The Big Fresno Fair is only 12 days long and is straight through so it should go by pretty fast. To celebrate the end of a great season, we have talked about stopping in Paso Robles, on our way home, for a night in their wine country. I have had a few different wines from Paso Robles lately and I am always very impressed. Justin is there so that is an easy one. I have also had great luck with wines from Oso Libre. Does anyone have any other suggestions of wineries to visit or places to stay there?

I wore this dress a few days ago, when we were home, for date night. I adore the ruffles on the sleeves and the color is the epitome of red wine. The best part... It is under $50. Don't let the "Juniors" label on this dress scare you. This brand seems to run a little big for juniors sizing. My lace-up heels give it a sassy edge, but you could totally dress it down a little with some booties. I kept the jewelry pretty minimal for this look because these heels are a statement all by themselves. The earrings I am wearing are super light weight and accessorize this look just enough.

I hope everyone has an amazing weekend!

Light Sweaters and Matte Lipstick

Sweater: Mossimo (similar style) | Tank: Merona | Jeans: Paige Denim | Wedges: BCBGeneration (only size 8 left) (same shoe, different store) | Necklace: Charming Charlie | Bangles: Panacea | Lip Pencil: MAC in Dervish | Lipstick: MAC in Pink Plaid

Is anyone else obsessed with matte lipstick for fall? For me, it's two-fold... The look of it screams fall and your hair doesn't end up stuck in your lipgloss on a windy fall day! I am currently obsessed with a few color combinations. I love this lip pencil in "Staunchly Stylish" with this lipstick in "Kinda Sexy", both in terracotta tones, when I wear olive or rich orange-brown colors. The creamy pink combination of this lip pencil in "Dervish" and this lipstick in "Pink Plaid" are my daily answer when I am feeling a bit washed out. When I want something a little darker, I have been using this lip pencil in "Spice" with this lipstick in "Taupe". What lip colors have you been obsessed with lately?

I threw this light asymmetrical sweater on the other night over a tank I was wearing during the day. It is so effortless and comfortable. I am pretty much always cold once the sun goes down, so for someone like me this is a great transitional piece to carry. I have good news and not-so-good news... The good news is that this sweater is only $23. The not-so-good news is that they only have the black/grey blend version of it in stock. The color they still have available is great, but I would suggest wearing it with a white tank and black shoes. I have linked another style that is closer in color to the one I am wearing but a bit pricier. I paired it here with my favorite ankle jeans and the transitional wedges I still can't get enough of. I also wore my favorite fall necklace that I warned you would be seeing quite a bit of.

How is your week going so far?

Booties All Around

Dress: Leith | Booties: Toms | Necklace: Charming Charlie | Bracelet: Charming Charlie | Bag: Louis Vuitton (Similar Style) | Lip Pencil: MAC in Staunchly Stylish | Lipstick: MAC in Kinda Sexy

Make that three pairs of booties... One for me and one for each twin. No, I'm not having twins but my sweet sister-in-law is! We are beyond thrilled that Tony's brother, G, and his wife, Miray, will be adding two little munchkins to our family come January! These are their first children and they are such an answer to prayer. God is so good! I have the honor of planning Miray's baby shower along with her mom and sister-in-law. Miray insisted on picking the theme (which is darling, more on that later), but she has officially handed control over to us. She is a bit of a control freak, not unlike myself, so this took some convincing. With everything else she has going on to get ready for these babies, it is definitely for the best. I will share more soon on the plans to celebrate this darling momma-to-be!

The heat here in California finally broke long enough, after the sun started to go down, for me to slip on my new booties with a dress. I am in love with this olive swing dress I recently picked up. It is very flattering for just about any figure. I find that some swing dresses are a bit on the short side, but this one is just right. These booties are awesome! It was my first time wearing them and they are comfortable and gorgeous. This bracelet is just dainty enough while still making a statement and you will probably be seeing this leaf necklace quite a bit this season. I mean does it get any more "fall" than a gold leaf?

I hope you all have a wonderful week!

Versatile Little Black Dress: The Casual Edition

Dress: Leith | Chambray Shirt: Mossimo | Shoes: Converse | Bracelet: Similar StyleSimilar Style | Earrings: Charming Charlie

Happy Friday everyone!! Yesterday was Tony's actual birthday. Every year since we have been together we go with his brother/business partner, his family and a few of our managers who are like family to Maria's, an Italian restaurant that is open on the LA Fairplex grounds during the fair. It is a nice little break for us to regroup as a family during this busy month and celebrate my sweet husband. Also, I always throw him a little shindig of my own, after the fair has closed for the night, in our house trailer that we live in while we are on the road. I try to make it as special as possible, complete with balloons, cake, Cava and presents. Tony is over-the-top busy during our work season which makes it difficult to celebrate his birthday to the extent I would like, but we definitely make the most of it!

Ask anyone that knows me... I do not typically wear dresses that are form fitting from top to bottom. The other day I was shopping and for some reason this dress caught my eye. When I tried it on I could not believe how flattering it was. The combination of the light knit material and not having much spandex in it really hides any areas that you may be concerned with. It is definitely one of my new favorite staples and the best part... You can completely dress it up or down. I plan on doing another post sometime next week with it dressed up for the perfect date night look. Stay tuned for that. The chambray shirt I have around my waist here is great to throw on over it if you get chilly, just roll the sleeves a few times to make it sassy. It can also easily be swapped for a casual plaid button-up.

Do you have a new favorite versatile staple in your closet?

Addicted to Olive

Top: Caslon | Jeans: Paige Denim | Wedges: BCBGeneration | Necklace: Charming Charlie | Bracelet: Charming Charlie

Today we are on our way back to LA after being home for the first time in two and a half weeks. These long stretches are a little rough on us, so to say I was happy to sleep in my own bed is a complete understatement!

While we were home we celebrated Tony's birthday with our families. His actual birthday is tomorrow. We were planning on going out to celebrate, but before we knew it we were up to 17 people (and that's not even our entire immediate family). That number is a bit overwhelming for most restaurants with short notice on a Monday night. On our way home from LA on Monday morning I suggested we have a good ol' fashioned pizza party. I mean who doesn't like pizza!?! I'm not really sure what I was thinking after being away from home for almost three weeks, but after a trip to Costco, a call to the delicious pizza place down the street and only being home for about three hours, we pulled off a pretty awesome party. It was super laid back and a heck of a lot more fun than sitting in a stuffy restaurant for three hours!

We had some rain in San Diego this week, but it was still 75 degrees during the day and very muggy. This is a great outfit for transitioning into fall colors while it's still warm outside. This tank is awesome! In fact, I have it on order in another color since it just went on sale for under $24. It's flowy, longer in the back than the front and I love the mix of materials. I have even worn it with converse to run some errands. These ankle jeans continue to be my favorite versatile jeans. My wedges are still available on sale in most sizes and they are so comfortable.

I hope everyone is having a wonderful week!

Black & Blue

Dress: Topshop | Heels: Steve Madden | Bracelet: Charming Charlie | Earrings: Charming Charlie

I hope everyone had a lovely weekend! My sweet momma and her husband came up to the LA County Fair to spend the day with Tony and me on Friday. They come and see us at least once at every fair we are at and I love it when they do. It is like they bring me a little bit of home while we are on the road. Tony is not able to take much time away from the business while we are open, but he pops in and out when he can. I have been around long enough to know how truly busy he is, so for me it's a bonus when I get to spend any time with him during these hectic days. How hard he tries is definitely not lost on any of us.

Last week, I wore this easy breezy shift dress out for date night. I. Love. This. Dress!! The color is so fun and it can be styled for many occasions. It is on the short side in the front, but the back looks like a tunic and is a bit longer which is nice since that's where it counts. It's shorter length is balanced by being loose, flowy and not too low cut. These shoes work great with it especially for transitioning into fall. You could even dress it up a little more with some sassy ankle strap heels. My earrings and bracelet are black and silver and can be dressed up or down.

For some reason, I am very drawn to cobalt blue and I constantly pair it with black. Maybe I should venture out a bit in the future :) What are your go-to color pairings?

My Uniform Lately

Top: BoBeau | Jeans: Paige Denim | Wedges: BCBGeneration | Bracelet: Charming Charlie | Earrings: Lonna & Lilly

I feel like I live in this outfit lately. It's too hot to wear anything more than a tank and these jeans are just thin enough (thank God). I wore it yesterday to go on a fun date with my bestie, Val. We met up halfway between San Diego and East LA (where I am currently based) to have lunch at Cheesecake Factory, get our nails done and do a little shopping. It was a much-needed girls day.

These jeans are, again, my favorite at the moment. They are super comfortable and easy to wear for most occasions. My top is AMAZING for this fall transitional weather. It has a gauze split-back overlay with a silky shell and beautiful lace detail on the shoulders. It is very fall appropriate while still being easy and cool AND it just went on sale for under $28!! These wedges are also my current go-to. I love anything camel colored. They are great for spring, summer and transitioning into fall. They come in two other colors and they also just went on sale for under $70!! It seems like these sales are coming at exactly the right time, especially for the weather we have been experiencing here in southern California.

What are your favorite fall transitional pieces? Leave me a link in the comments below.

Have an amazing Friday and a wonderful weekend!
