Pausing For A Breather

Tony and I are currently sitting in the San Diego airport waiting to head off to paradise. About seven hours from now we will be touching down in Cancun for a week of rest and relaxation. We have not had a vacation since our honeymoon a year-and-a-half ago, so to say I am excited is a complete understatement! I will definitely be posting at least once next week and will be doing a full recap when we return, but other than that I will be taking a brief hiatus for some quality time with my sweet husband.

I hope you have a wonderful week!

Sweater Weather

I'm sure everyone is getting ready to head out of the office and into the festivities of tomorrow and I hope you all are brimming from ear to ear!! I am so happy this holiday season. This year is a little different than last year for me. This time last year was our first holiday season as a married couple and to say it was jam packed is an understatement. The bottom line is that we were opening a new restaurant. If you have ever opened a restaurant or know anyone that has then you know that it is one of the most life-consuming things you can do, at least for the first couple of months. This year things have calmed down and Tony has more of a set schedule. He has been around to enjoy the holiday spirit with me and seriously someone pinch me! As great as the holiday season is, it is nothing without the ones you love by your side.

Over the weekend, I wore this cozy sweater while we were in Palm Springs and my awesome brother-in-law shot some pictures for me in his gorgeous backyard. This cardigan is a buffalo plaid, waterfall cardigan and it is perfect to throw on over anything casual. The top I have it paired with is the same super soft top I wore in this post. The way it lays while tucked in is great and makes it super versatile. Both the top and the cardigan just went on sale!! Use the links above to take advantage of the great prices. I finished off this look with some bell-bottom jeans and my favorite black booties.

Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours!!

Softest Top Ever

Top | Pumps | Jeans | Scarf | Clutch | Earrings

Watching our loved ones transition into parenthood is really fun, but last night we went out for what will most likely be our last night on the town with G and Miray for quite a while. After spending all day setting up the nursery for G and Miray's new babies, we went to Mastro's in Palm Desert and had the loveliest two and a half hour dinner. I can't believe we sat there for so long, but it was just awesome. I mean the food could not have been better and the company was perfect. We reminisced on the first time we met our spouses and all of the windy roads that we have been on in the past few years. God works in the most mysterious ways and I truly know that all of us are exactly where we are supposed to be. We are so blessed and I, for one, could not be any happier.

I love this top! It's the softest top I have EVER felt! It is shirt length in the back, tunic length in the front and has an asymmetrical hem. It can be dressed up or down and I could wear it day in and day out. I have it paired here with a super light rectangle scarf. I love the color combination of blues, greys, and even a little pink and the tassels finish it off perfectly. I would not usually wear such a flowy top with anything other than skinny jeans or leggings but this top is so lightweight that it really compliments the bell-bottoms. My favorite grey pointed toe heels complete this look.

I hope you are having an awesome Monday!

Peasant Top and Booties

This weekend we are heading out to Palm Springs to bring some gifts to G and Miray that couldn't fit in their car from the baby shower and to help put the nursery together. I love that they live so close but just far enough so that visiting them is always like a mini vacation. It also helps that their house is like a little resort. We cannot wait for the arrival of these little munchkins and the next time we go to visit they will be here! It is crazy to think back four years to when I first met Miray. So much has changed, and now to think that they will be parents in seven weeks or less is just crazy! I am an only child so being a part of Tony's big family has definitely had it's growing pains for me. Gaining sister-in-laws is great but I never imagined I would have such a close relationship with Miray. It is such a cool blessing.

Yesterday I threw on this peasant top that I had honestly kind of forgotten about with the hustle and bustle of the past week. It is awesome!! I ran some errands and cooked dinner in it and I did not once think about changing out of it. It is flowy in all the right places and the lace detail is perfect! Pairing it with my favorite taupe booties and skinny jeans definitely helped the comfort level. It also comes in black if you tend to be messy, but this color is versatile enough for spring, summer and fall.

I hope you have a wonderful weekend!!

Baby Shower Outfits

I am so excited for Thanksgiving and I can't believe it's almost a week away. I LOVE to bake and my absolute favorite dessert to make for Thanksgiving is Apple Pumpkin Pie. The hybrid of these two pies is incredible! It is all of the best things about fall wrapped up into one little slice of heaven. If you happen to be wearing boots and a scarf while you eat it then you are the downright epitome of fall! My brother-in-law just finished the three-year process of building a house back in May and this will be our first holiday there. The only other party we have had there was my niece's birthday which got interrupted by the joyous arrival of our new niece. It will be fun to have most of the family together and I can't wait to start prepping food!

As promised, I have linked both my look for the shower and the gorgeous outfit our momma-to-be was wearing. I tried tirelessly to find a dress that would match the theme, but it just did not happen. The dress I ended up with worked out great and I will definitely wear it again. It is loose and flowy and has a great open back detail. I love the pattern too. It is gorgeous and not too in your face. Miray wore a beautiful periwinkle lace dress. She paired it with nude heels that lasted through most of the pictures but brought some darling flats to give her feet a break. I linked both pairs of shoes above.

Have a wonderful day!!

Miray's Baby Shower

On Saturday I hosted my sister-in-law's baby shower along with her mother and sister-in-law and it really could not have gone any better. We had a luncheon overlooking the ocean at Il Fornaio in Del Mar and it was such a gorgeous day. The shower was "under-the-sea" themed with a color palette of light aqua, neutral tones and touches of blush. The colors melded seamlessly. We had plenty of seashells and starfish throughout the setting with accents of sand and some flickering candles. I was beyond thrilled with how my vision came together, but most importantly the momma-to-be was so happy it just about brought her to tears.

We played a few games including a cute version of the left-right game, a memory game with a basket full of goodies and the "is it mommy or daddy" trivia game. All of them were very enjoyable and not too cheesy, which was perfect for the setting. We indulged in some delicious Italian food and a table full of desserts. Everything went so smoothly which is naturally a huge relief. I hope our guest's enjoyed themselves as much as we did. Now, we just can't wait for those little cuties to arrive (after they cook a little while longer of course)!

I will have all details for my outfit here on Wednesday as well as the gorgeous look our momma-to-be is wearing.

I hope you have a wonderful day!

Chambray Tunic and Flowers

Yesterday I picked up all of the flowers for the baby shower from the flower market and I could not even contain my excitement! I love flowers! Like they are one of my top five favorite things in life. When I was in high school I had an agriculture class and just like any other agriculture class you had to have a semester project. Most people raised a goat or grew some tomatoes but I decided that working at a florist should count as my project. I pitched my idea to the teacher. He rolled his eyes and agreed to let me as long as I wasn't getting paid. He said something about this being a project, not a job. I found a local florist and told her I would love to work for her for free and she agreed. I mostly assisted her but towards the end she let me do some designing. She ended up hiring me on part-time after my "project" was over and it was truly my favorite job ever!

How perfect is this chambray tunic!?! It is so easy to throw on with some flat boots and everyone's favorite... yoga pants!! I have it rolled up here, but it has full-length long sleeves and is a great length for leggings in the front and the back. I have it paired here with a super cozy scarf with the best color combo I have seen in a while and my favorite chocolate riding boots. They are perfect for cool days when I'm out and about and they just went on SALE for 60% off!!

I hope you have a wonderful weekend!

Transitional Turtle Neck

It is kind of crazy how things change over time, especially how we feel about certain topics and what we find important enough to spend our time on. Lately, I have noticed a serious shift in my thoughts and priorities and I seem to be surprising myself. I have become much more laid back in the sense of people having their own opinions and views on things and it's rather freeing. I used to get frustrated when people wouldn't at least let me say my piece on whatever it is they were talking about, but I have adopted a much more open frame of mind. I am much happier hearing them out, nodding my head and walking away thinking "that's an interesting point of view," rather than tirelessly trying to prove my point. Certain people definitely still bring out my argumentative side, but I am working on that. One of my favorite authors, Lysa TerKeurst, once wrote, "There's this beautiful thing called imperfect progress, slow steps of progress wrapped in grace."  That quote pretty much sums it up for me. I try to keep the goal of having imperfect progress on all things in life in the forefront of my mind. At the end of the day none of us are perfect and progress is still progress.

This dress is great for transitioning into fall and even winter. It is so versatile having no sleeves but a turtleneck. I have it paired here with a chunky cardigan, but it could easily be paired with a full-on sweater and even some nylons as we move into winter. The slight a-line cut is very flattering and the material is a nice, thick quality cotton blend. I will definitely be featuring it again. This cardigan is so cozy! I love how chunky it is and the slight waterfall front makes it easy to throw on with just about anything. The last third of the sleeves are fitted which keeps it from sliding down or becoming a nuisance. I have both paired here with the black booties I have been wearing religiously.

I hope you have a wonderful rest of your week! Thanks for stopping by!
