In Honor of March

Jacket: Guess | Top: Mossimo | Jeans: BlankNYC | Heels: J. Renee | Clutch (similar style): Phase 3 | Lip Pencil: MAC (in Edge to Edge) | Lipstick: MAC (in Pink Plaid)

We are heading home from the Palm Springs area today with our hearts full and the baby-itch scratched. Our niece and nephew are the cutest! The last time we were here they were only a week old and the entire family was here to visit them. Now that they are a bit older they are settling into their little personalities, mommy and daddy are getting more than an hour of sleep per night and we got to have them all to ourselves. It was such a sweet time and I am so glad we had the opportunity to come after last week turning out the way it did. I am already trying to figure out when we can come next!

In honor of tomorrow being March 1st, I decided to go all out in the color department. This blazer could go with just about anything. It has almost every color of the rainbow in it. It is especially great to have around to brighten up an all-black outfit. The tank I have on here comes in quite a few color and it is only $10! How gorgeous is the color of these shoes!?! They are an awesome heel height for a night out that involves more time on your feet than valet and a seated dinner. I could confidently wear them all over downtown. To round out this outfit I paired it with my current go-to skinny jeans.

I hope your day is as beautiful as you are!

Round Two

Tunic: Mossimo | Tank: Merona | Jeans: BlankNYC | Shoes: Hinge | Lip Pencil: MAC (in Spice) | Lipstick: MAC (in Kinda Sexy)

Not to completely mimic last week's post, but we are planning on going out to the desert to visit the twins this weekend. After being sick last weekend and cancelling our trip, we have decided to make another go at it. Tony takes Sunday's and Monday's away from the restaurant so we are going to head up there when he gets home tomorrow. We have had a week packed full of family time. Tuesday night we had dinner with my mom and Brucy at an awesome Mexican restaurant that serves this cream of poblano soup that is out of this world. On Wednesday I spent the day with Tony's mom running errands. We had dinner later that night at his brother's house and his mom made malfoofay (totally not spelled right), an arabic dish of cabbage leaves stuffed with vegetables and rice, cooked in a lemony broth. It is one of my absolute favorites! She packed me a container to go and I have been rationing them ever since. Last night we had our nephews over to have pizza and watch a movie. It's been great and I cannot wait to continue the family time this weekend.

This tunic got delivered the other day and I think it is another great winter/spring transitional piece. It goes great with black or brown compliments and the sleeves can be rolled down to make it a little warmer. I picked up these shoes recently and they are so sassy while still being unbelievably comfortable. I love that they lace up and they come in four colors. Would you believe they are under $100!?! I have them shown here with my go-to skinny jeans and a black tank.

I hope your day is as beautiful as you are!

Staple Pieces

Sleeveless Trench: Glamorous | Tank: Mossimo | Jeans: BlankNYC | Heels: Steve Madden | Clutch (similar style): Phase 3 | Bracelet: Topshop

The other day someone asked me how I would describe my style and I honestly had no idea what to tell them. I mean, I am definitely more on the conservative side but that could mean a million things, and since I have started fashion blogging I have had to think outside of what used to be my fashion box. I think as a normal consumer (not as a fashion blogger) it is extremely important to have staple pieces. Take this set of photos for example... The tank I am wearing here is new but I bought it in three colors because it is only $15 and I know that if I buy a new sweater or a statement pair of pants and pair them with this tank and a few accessories, I now have myself a seemingly brand new outfit. Along those same lines, the jeans I am wearing are under $100 and they can be dressed up, like in the pictures above, or dressed down (see this post). These are two examples of pieces that are so important and can be used throughout the year. I think the best answer I could give anyone about defining my style is classic, conservative and versatile with a side of sass. So vague, I know, but that's the beauty of it. Personal style is whatever you want it to be.

I do a lot of my shopping online in my pajamas and call it lazy, but it's much easier than sifting through departments and hoping they have your size. This trench, however, is one I picked up in store. I saw it on the hanger and had to have it. The quality of the material and the structure are incredible. I wore it tied back which is super flattering in that it hangs just in front of my stomach (not my favorite feature), while still cinching in on the sides. It can also be worn tied in the front and with a long sleeved shirt for colder weather. I talked a little about this tank above, but seriously, buy it and buy it in every color that will benefit you. It is a lightweight crepe material that can be worn tucked or untucked and it is racerback which is super flattering. You will be seeing this one and it's counterparts through the spring and summer. I have it paired with my current favorite skinny jeans and ankle strap heels to give this outfit some extra sass.

I hope your day is as beautiful as you are!

More Great Transitional Wear

Top: Caslon | Necklace: Berry | Jeans: BlankNYC | Flats: BP | Tank (similar style): BP | Lipliner: MAC (in Edge to Edge) | Lipstick: MAC (in Kinda Sexy)

I don't know if it is the drastic weather changes we have been having here in San Diego or just that my immune system is MIA, but I have been minorly sick three times in the last two months. I thought I was finally feeling better after my last issue with my sinuses, but Saturday morning a head cold moved in like nobody's business. I'm feeling much better now, but it was such a bummer because we were supposed to be heading to the desert to see our sweet niece and nephew (more on that here). I would never risk getting those little babes sick, so staying home was the only option. Anyways, when I am sick there is only one meal I crave, Lourdes Chicken Soup. Lourdes is this tiny hole-in-the-wall Mexican restaurant in the suburb of San Diego that I grew up in, Escondido. Escondido isn't the loveliest place, but you can get some of the best Mexican food there! This soup is amazing and just what the doctor ordered if you aren't feeling so hot. It is made up of clear broth, huge chunks of clean, light chicken meat, Mexican rice and avocados. I add a little of their hot salsa to mine. It helps clear out the sinuses. If you are ever in north San Diego county make sure you stop in whether you are sick or not.

Buy this top... No really, it is perfect for transitional weather. I feel like I have been saying that a lot lately but I'm not joking around. It is so wide towards the bottom that you can practically throw it over anything and it comes in FIVE colors. Think of it as more of a go-to sweater for spring and summer to keep around when the day cools to night. I paired it with this nautical inspired statement necklace. The stones on it matched my new camel lace-up flats perfectly. It's all pretty matchy-matchy but it works.

I hope your day is as beautiful as you are!!

Cute and Casual

Dress: Side Stitch | Shoes: Converse | Sunglasses: Tom Ford | Purse (similar styles): Sole SocietySole SocietyBP | Lip Pencil: MAC (in Edge to Edge) | Lipstick: MAC (in Pink Plaid)

We are heading to the desert to see the twins (oh and G and Miray ;)) this weekend and I am so excited. We haven't seen them since they were less than a week old and now they are over six weeks old. Can you believe that!?! Time flies!! They are doing great and I can't wait to snuggle their little faces!! We are taking Tony's parents with us which is great! They are really good friends with Miray's parents who will also be out there so that will be fun for them to not only see their grandbabies but also their dear friends. I am so excited to do nothing but hold babies all weekend long. It is a little pathetic but they totally scratch that baby itch for me.

This dress is so so comfortable. Everyone needs a dress like this in their closet, especially this particular one, it's super soft. It is so easy to throw on and go all day in and you still look put together and cute. Pairing it with some Chucks and a crossbody bag make it even easier to be in on a jam-packed day. I have the sleeves rolled, so if the night turns chilly in this transitional weather we have been having you can roll them down. Adding a chambray button-down for warmth isn't a bad idea either. I have had these sunglasses for a while and they are my favorite because they have an adjustable nose piece and they aren't aviators (aviators look horrid on me). I have huge cheeks so anytime I wear suglasses that don't have an adjustable nose piece look angry because I tend to not smile. If I smile they sit on my cheeks and leave marks in my makeup (both super annoying). If you have the same problem, these are a great solution.

I hope your day is as beautiful as you are!

Valentine's Day Recap

Dress: Lush | Flats: BP | Bag: Sole Society (same brand, similar style) | Necklace: BP | Lip Pencil: MAC (in Edge to Edge) | MAC (in Kinda Sexy)

We had the most amazing day on Monday celebrating Valentine's Day, so warning, this post is going to be super sappy. I woke up to a trail of little notes that made up a poem and led me out to the kitchen where that sweet man of mine had several dozen roses, a huge stuffed gorilla holding a heart, my favorite chocolate and the makings for mimosas. When I woke up he was in the middle of preparing the most ridiculously delicious frittata. I mean, I have never had such a delicious breakfast ever. After we had breakfast and mimosas we got ready and went for what I thought was just a walk on the harbor and we wound up on a sailboat that he had previously arranged for us. San Diego is gorgeous most days, but there was not a cloud in the sky on Monday and it was the absolute perfect temperature!! After sailing for a few hours, we came home to rest for a little bit. Tony had reservations at a nice restaurant, so our intention was to rest and then get ready for a night out. We had so much fun already that we mutually decided to stay in, rent a movie and order pizza. I cannot imagine a more perfect day. My heart is so full because of this incredible man God has blessed me with.

So these shoes are everywhere right now and for good reason. They are a super sassy way to wear flats and I love them. This dress is great for the transitional weather for this time of year. It's heavy material and long sleeves keep it warm while it's length keeps you cool. It's a perfect balance. I recently picked up this crossbody bag and I love it and apparently so did everyone else because it is sold out. I linked a similar bag that is great for long outings when you don't want a full-sized bag and if you are as infatuated with all things camel colored as I am lately then it will go with a ton of outfits. I will be posting the outfit details from our sailing trip on Friday.

I hope your day is as beautiful as you are!

Valentine's Day Is The 15th Right?

Top: Billabong | Jeans: BlankNYC | Heels: Steve Madden | Earrings: Nordstrom | Clutch: Halogen (similar style) | Lipstick: MAC (in Mehr) | Lip Pencil: MAC (in Soar)

Because of our schedules over the years, we have never celebrated Valentine's Day on the 14th. Even though we were totally able to this year, we decided to stick with tradition and we will be celebrating today. I have no idea what we are doing but I am excited to find out. Tony isn't always the best with keeping things a surprise but this year I have absolutely, positively no clue as to what we are doing. I will definitely do a recap on Wednesday. We had such a sweet Sunday though. Our dear friends Kaley and Brent are having a baby and they had their gender reveal party yesterday. They are having a little girl!! We could not be more thrilled for them. They are the sweetest couple and I have no doubt that they will make awesome parents! Ruby Jean is one lucky little lady!

This is a great transitional floral. It's not too in your face "springy" but it is still fun, flowy and optimistic. I am so sad but we didn't get a good picture of the back. It ties at the top and has a flirty little keyhole. It is the perfect amount of flowy and just heavy enough to hang in all the right places so you look laid back without looking wide. I have it paired here with the skinny jeans that I pretty much wear daily. A sassy ankle strap heel and a clutch is the perfect way to dress up a shirt like this for date night.

I hope your day is as beautiful as you are!

Baba's Birthday

Lace Top: Xhilaration | Tank: Merona | Jeans: BlankNYC | Shoes: Steve Madden | Lip Liner: MAC (in Staunchly Stylish) | Lipstick: MAC (in Kinda Sexy)

Yesterday we celebrated Tony's dad's 84th birthday. Tony was a bit of a surprise so he came a little later in his parent's life. We celebrated at Tony's brother's house. When there are quite a few of us like there was last night our go-to meal is carne asada and chicken asada with all of the fixins for a taco bar. It's one of my favorite meals and a great way to feed the masses. We had such a nice time celebrating the patriarch of the family. He is such an incredible man that has so much to be celebrated. Some of our nephews refer to him as "The General" because he is definitely the boss of the family, but with the kindest demeanor. You won't hear from him in conversation all that often but when he speaks you listen! He's extremely proud of his family and rightfully so. He gave up so much to be sure that his four children had the opportunity to be successful and they definitely served him proud and then some. He is the sweetest man and I could not be more blessed to be able to call him Baba (dad in Arabic).

This lace overlay is a great way to dress up a tank on one of these warm transitional winter/spring days and it's only $23!! I own the tank I am wearing in five colors and for good reason, it is super soft and so reasonably priced. I have this top paired with my favorite skinny jeans and the block heeled sandals that I can't get enough of. I wore this outfit all day around Vegas for shopping and a little bit of machine playing. It was so effortless and comfortable.

I hope your day is as beautiful as you are!
