Workout Wear and Skin Care

Workout Wear: Zella | Top: Zella | Yoga Pants/Leggings: Zella | Sports Bra: Under Armor | Shoes: Nike | Sunscreen: Alba Botanica

Not many people know this but last summer I went in for a routine dermatology check-up and they decided that they wanted to biopsy two moles. Talk about messing with your head. I have a history of skin cancer in my family so taking a look is more than normal but I never expected that they would want to cut pieces of my skin out. One thing I know after going through a week long torturous waiting period is that cancer does not discriminate. It doesn't matter who you are, you are susceptible. My skin is pretty much see-through and not getting burnt has been a battle every summer for my entire life. After all of the research I did that week, I realized that at some point it is pretty much inevitable that I will have some form of cancerous skin cells growing on my body. So, for me and those like me, it is all about early detection. It turns out that one of the spots they biopsied was completely fine, but the other had some abnormal cells. They cut the location with the abnormal cells again, and the second biopsy showed that they got it all (thank the Lord!). I will definitely be going to see my dermatologist to get a full body scan at least once a year for the rest of my life and if you're anything like me you probably should too. It is worth your peace of mind.

With all of that being said I have linked my favorite sunscreen above. It is an organic, air-only, compressed spray sunscreen with an SPF of 50. YES, I know I said spray. Spray sunscreens are generally not good for you as a rule, but it is quick and easy so to me it is worth the minor bad that is going on in this sunscreen. If you are careful to only spray it outside it even lessens the concern, especially given that it is air-powered. This sunscreen is super accessible, it can even be found at Target, and for that reason alone it is a great pick. Another great brand that is much healthier for your skin, if you can get your hands on it and if you have the patience to rub it on is Badger. They have a baby and kids line that is awesome and I love their lavender scented sunscreen.

I also linked up my go-to workout brands. I have a slight obsession with Zella clothing. It is good for everything from hot yoga to hiking. Lightweight Nikes are my shoe of choice and I swear by Under Armor bras. They keep everything in place. No, I don't typically wear full makeup to workout but Tony and I decided to do a leisure hike after church last week and we had plans afterwards so I wasn't too worried about it.

I hope your day is as beautiful as you are!
