Time Flies

Kimono: Bindya Lulla by Bindya | Tank: Merona | Jeans: Blank NYC | Sandals: Steve Madden | Earrings: Nadri | Bracelet (similar style): Nadri | Lipcolor: Anastasia Beverly Hills

I can't believe we are entering our final week of the San Diego County Fair. That means this time next week we will be just over a third of the way through our season and that is crazy to me. San Diego always flies because everyone visits and I split my time between the fair and home, but this year seems to have gone quicker than usual. On another note, I am so excited that my cousin is coming to town from Nebraska tomorrow. We have a few fun things planned for the week including, of course, a day at the fair and a painting night. She hasn't been home in over a year so it will be really fun to catch up.

I love kimonos for summer time. They are a great way to dress up a tank top. The blues in this pattern are to die for and the material is so light weight that it is perfect for a warm day. The tassels give this kimono a cute finish. I just got these sandals in the other day and I love them. They are great for being on your feet for a while. I don't know about you but this heat makes my feet swell a bit so being able to loosen my shoes towards the end of a long day is a huge plus. I also love that they are gladiator style, but not in an obnoxious way. I paired this outfit with the go-to tank that I own in several colors and my favorite skinny jeans.

I hope your day is as beautiful as you are!

So I'm Obsessed

This is not a sponsored post... I am just obsessed with Lush products. You may be obsessed as well or you may avoid this store altogether depending on how sensitive your smeller is. I avoided Lush for a long time, but mainly because I figured it would be trouble. If you ask Tony, it is definitely trouble. As far as I am concerned, the only trouble I get into there nowadays are bath bombs and face masks. I only take so many baths so buying a few new ones every time I am in there is soooo unnecessary. Their face masks are amazing but they are made fresh (again amazing) so they expire and I end up never using it all. I guess that spells trouble as well. I have learned that they are perfect for ladies night. You can split their masks about four ways so bring on the wine and romcoms.

Anyways, I wanted to tell you about the amazing night cleansing regimen that I have been indulging in for the past few months and that I will definitely be sticking with. Before I dive in, I have oily skin and I battle hormonal acne. Lush products have helped me keep both of these issues at bay with an all natural gentle approach rather than with harsh chemicals. I have long term skin care goals, so although my skin may not be perfect, keeping my issues manageable without damaging my skin and guaranteeing future wrinkles among other problems is absolutely the perfect balance.

Cleanser: Ultrabland

For some reason, people think that oil is bad for oily skin. Not true. The RIGHT oils are great for oily skin, especially when it comes to a cleanser. If you are always stripping your skin's natural oils, your skin produces a larger amount of oils in order to compensate, making your skin more oily. This cleanser is creamy and goes on thick and velvety, so it does not strip your skin of it's natural oils. I leave it on for a few minutes and then I take it off with a microfiber washcloth soaked in hot water. It cleanses away all of the impurities and makeup of the day and my skin feels so silky after. I have totally fallen in love with it and it is a favorite of one of Lush's owners. I will tell you that there will be a period of time where your skin will purge all of the gross stuff it has been hanging on to thanks to the goodness this cleanser holds, so stick with it. I promise it will be worth it. I use a microfiber washcloth because they are much gentler than traditional washcloths and don't irritate my skin by exfoliating every single cleaning.

 Toner: Tea Tree Water

I follow my cleansing by dampening a cotton round with about five sprays of Tea Tree Water toner. It is light and refreshing and helps to naturally suppress my oils without being drying and forcing my skin to produce more oil.

Moisturizer:  Cosmetic Lad

This moisturizer is actually marketed to men for post-shave soreness and irritation, but I absolutely love it for the same reasons they would. It is moisture rich, calming for any irritated skin and refreshing for that good feeling clean after a long day.

I have not lived without these products for a while now and I don't intend to anytime soon. I will fill you in on the other Lush products I use soon. I can't get enough of them and I suggest you stop in and visit next time you're at the mall.

I hope your day is as beautiful as you are!

Ease Into It

Dress: Love Squared | Wedges: Jessica Simpson | Similar Handbags:  Sole SocietyTory BurchRebecca Minkoff | Earrings (dup): Nadri |Bracelet: Blushes and Gold | Bracelet (similar style): Nadri | Middle Finger Ring (dup): Nadri | Lipstick: Anastasia Beverly Hills in Dolce

Thank God we start our season in Del Mar. I was just thinking the other day about all of these people that work out at the fair and don't have the pleasure of living in San Diego. They don't get to ease into fair season and run home for any little thing that they weren't quite prepared for. Having the San Diego County Fair as our first fair of the season is such a blessing. Beyond this fair, we live close enough to all but one of our fairs that we always get to come home on our days off. Some of the people that have businesses out here live in Arizona or Oregon, which is definitely not an easy trek for only having 2 days off. People ask me all of the time, "How do you do that?". Or they tell me that there is no way they could live the life we live. Fair season is NOT for the faint of heart. It is tough, but it is so good and so rewarding and living within 2 hours of the majority of our fairs makes it totally digestible, for me anyway.

How awesome is this dress!?! It's short, but long and the crochet detailing on the neckline is so sweet. It is absolutely perfect for HOT weather. The long portion of the dress is the lightest gauzy material and the slit that goes up the entire side completely vents the dress. Most times I wear a dress that blows in the wind I am always grabbing at it to make sure I don't show off my lady bits, but the fitted slip on this dress make it so you WELCOME the wind. I paired it here with my favorite camel wedges and some complimentary gold jewelry.

Heat Wave

Top: Mossimo | Jeans: Paige Denim | Shoes: Hinge | Earrings (dup): Nadri | Bracelet (similar style): Nadri | Middle Finger Ring (dup): Nadri | Similar Handbags:  Sole SocietyTory BurchRebecca Minkoff | Lipstick: MAC in Pink Plaid | Lip Pencil: MAC in Edge to Edge

Oh my heat wave... I had a blast in Palm Springs with the kiddos and the rest of my family, but I was ready to get out of the heat, only to find out that San Diego is no better at the moment. It is supposed to get up over one hundred today. Usually, this kind of heat does not hit until late August or early September. We have what we call May grey and June gloom here in San Diego and the temperatures stay pretty mild until about the 4th of July. Not this year. It is hot and not hot like the desert... It's hot and sticky. I know, I know, I shouldn't be complaining. We definitely live in paradise but when heat like this hits it is a bit miserable and it is horrible for business at the fair.

This tank is awesome for this heat. We shot these photos last week when the weather was a bit milder, but throw this top on with a pair of shorts and you are perfectly suited for this warm up. This top is only $20 and they are currently running a buy one get one 50% off special. It comes in white which is awesome as well. I love how narrow the straps get and the mesh detailing on the top gives this tank the perfect extra oomph. I paired it with some black lace up block heels and gold accessories.

I hope your day is as beautiful as you are!

In case you missed anything, here is a recap of some of my favorite pieces from the past month. Usually, I have a pretty easy time picking the outfits I want to feature again in these monthly posts but this month was a little tougher. There were definitely quite a few pieces that will be in rotation for a while. I hope you have a wonderful weekend!

Palm Springs Bound

Dress: Speechless (exact dress sold out)Speechless (similar style)Speechless (similar style)Wedges: Jessica Simpson | Earrings (dup): Nadri |Bracelet: Blushes and Gold | Bracelet (similar style): Nadri | Middle Finger Ring (dup): Nadri | Lipstick: Anastasia Beverly Hills in Dolce

I'm Palm Springs bound today to visit my cute niece and nephew for a few days... oh and their mom and dad ;). It will be a nice break from the madness that is fair season, but it is going to be so so hot. I mean, we are talking 100 degrees. So, that means a lot of indoor play time with the babes which is totally great with me. I'm sure Miray and I will do some shopping for those cute nuggets, but other than that it will just be nice to hang with the kids and relax.

Shift dresses are clearly my favorite and the flattering neckline of this dress makes it one of my favorites. With as windy as it has been in San Diego lately, shift dresses have been my go-to for warmer weather as they don't blow up and expose you when a gust sneaks up. This particular one is sold out but I found the same dress in a different pattern and another similar dress by the same designer. I paired this dress with camel colored wedges and some gold jewelry for a laid back date night look.

I hope your day is as beautiful as you are!!

Office Inspo

I decided to put together an inspiration board for my office redesign and now I am even more excited about getting started on this project. I already purchased the chair (in fact I am currently typing from it) and the desk. The desk I purchased is a little different but cannot be purchased online so I linked a similar style. My actual desk has a white surface and black legs as well. Currently, the office is a junkyard with a desk/my get-ready room. When it is complete it will be an office/get-ready room/additional guest space. We currently have a guest room but adding another space for guests that can also be used as a place to sit or lounge never hurt anyone. I plan on painting the room a very light version of the color of the chair. I am leaning toward Benjamin Moore Tranquil Blue but at either a 25% or 50% version of it (quarter or half the color strength). I will definitely have a few more fun pieces of decor in aqua and gold, but you get the idea. I can't wait to share it with you once it's complete in a few months (thanks to fair season and another project I'm working on).

I hope your day is as beautiful as you are!

Ballpark Chic

Top (similar styles): LushLush | Hat: Target | Jeans (similar style): Treasure&BondTopshopBlankNYC | Jacket (similar style): Guess | Crossbody Bag (similar style): Phase 3Sole Society | Shoes: Converse | Earrings (dup): Nadri |Bracelet: Blushes and Gold | Bracelet (similar style): Nadri | Middle Finger Ring (dup): Nadri | Lipstick: Anastasia Beverly Hills in Crush

I had the sweetest time with one of my dearest friends yesterday. She is about two weeks out from giving birth to her first child, so I was able to help her get a few things out of the way before this little lady joins us. We had such a nice time catching up and talking about her becoming a momma. I also got the chance to see her nursery completed and it is just darling. She went to school for interior design and she has the cutest taste in really eclectic, shabby chic furnishings. Seeing all her little lady's clothes and gear was so fun.

I wore this outfit to the baseball game the other day and it was the perfect mix between ballpark casual and classy. A flowy top like the one I have on can go great with a pair of boyfriend jeans and sneakers. It can also be a great date night outfit with skinny jeans and a pair of heels. Regardless of your team, I always buy an adjustable men's hat instead of women's. Apparently my head is tall. Women's hats never come down far enough on me and I always feel like they are going to fall off. A good crossbody bag is always good to keep around especially for an outing like a ballgame. I linked a few similar styles that are reasonable priced and will go far.

I hope your day is as beautiful as you are!

'Merica

Top: BoBeau | Shoes: Steve Madden | Jeans: Blank NYC | Bracelet (similar style): Lonna & LillyPanacea | Similar Handbags:  Sole SocietyTory BurchRebecca Minkoff | Lipstick: Anastasia Beverly Hills in Crush

Yesterday Tony and I got the opportunity to go watch the San Diego Padres beat the Atlanta Braves. I am not huge on baseball, but this was an awesome game! We had all the necessary ballpark food... Hot dogs, french fries, peanuts, cracker jacks and beer of course. I would say that it doesn't get much more American than that, but before we went to the game we went and voted. It was all around probably the most American day ever and it felt so good. Having a day off with my love is one thing, but a day like that was just plain wonderful!

It's casual Wednesday over here and this embellished tee is the perfect thing to add to your laid back clothing arsenal. The rose gold studs are such a sassy touch. The back of this tee is a comfy knit and the front is a woven breathable material, so perfect for the summer months approaching. I love the length in the front and it would look equally as great with a pair of jean shorts. I picked up these super comfortable Steve Madden sneakers the other day after seeing my nephew's girlfriend wear them a few times (channelling my inner Rosie). They are super cute with their quilted top and I will definitely be living in them and my Chucks this fair season.

I hope your day is as beautiful as you are!!

We Made It

Top: Bobeau | Jeans: BlankNYC | Wedges:  | Earrings (similar style): Ted Baker | Necklace (similar style): Ted Baker | Lipstick: Anastasia Beverly Hills in Crush | Similar Handbags:  Sole SocietyTory BurchRebecca Minkoff

We made it through opening weekend of the San Diego County Fair. It was definitely a little challenging, but it always is. We are so thrilled to have it behind us and have a couple of days off to catch up on sleep. Tony works until between one and two in the morning which means that we are not in bed until between two and three. It's rather pathetic, but I am terrible at sleeping without him especially when I know he will be coming through the door soon. So, it takes both of us a minute to adjust to our new schedule and we are typically exhausted the first week (him more than me of course). It is such rewarding and fun work so all of the adjustments are definitely worth it, we are just so happy to have a second to breathe and be with each other.

I could not pass up this sheer polka dot top. It is so sweet and a great transitional piece to wear over a cool tank top as we head into warmer weather. I felt like going really classic with this top and black and white is about as classic as you can get. I spiced it up just a little with the equally as sweet rose gold bow necklace and earrings that my darling niece and sweet sister-in-law picked out for my birthday. They are sold out, but I linked a similar pair.

I hope your day is as beautiful as you are!
