Learned My Lesson

Dress: Leith | Wedges: Charles By Charles David | Clutch (similar style): Halogen | Lip Color: Bare Minerals in Juju | Earrings (dup): Nadri |Bracelet: Blushes and Gold | Bracelet (similar style): Nadri | Middle Finger Ring (dup): Nadri

I totally learned my lesson with the N Sale this year. I really enjoy shopping online especially when I am buying heavily the way I did during the N Sale. The only problem is then you have to wait to receive the items. Well, I shopped day one online and only received my shipment yesterday, which means that it won't make it on the blog until the sale is mostly over. Silly me. I mean, I will still feature things from the sale, but that doesn't benefit you much now does it? I definitely knew I was still new to the fashion blogging world, but that was confirmed this week thanks to the sale of the year. It is a subtle little reminder that all of this is a work in progress and that I just have to be ok with that.

This print!!! Holy moly, isn't it gorgeous!?! I love the neckline on this dress too. It is definitely low cut and flirty, but it's not too much. I was tempted to pair it with a long necklace but the back of the dress makes it so close to a halter cut that it doesn't really need one. The slit up the middle makes it even flirtier especially when it is a little windy out. The way it is cut around the arms causes it to hang in such a romantic way. I paired it with wedges here because we were headed downtown for a date, which requires a little more walking, but I will be pairing it with ankle strap heels for a more dressed up night out. I also went the gold jewelry route because I felt the print was a bit on the warmer end.

I hope your day is as beautiful as you are!!

Utah

Fun fact... I lived in Utah for 10 months right after I graduated from high school. I went to school for medical esthetics and I am still licensed even though I have never practiced professionally (different story for a different day). I knew I wanted to be an esthetician and I have always strived to be the best at whatever it is I want to achieve. Medical esthetics was the best you could be in that field and at the time it was only offered in Utah. Lucky for me, my aunt and her family live in Salt Lake and they offered to take me in. Long story short, I came running home after I was done with my certification, but Utah holds a dear place in my heart and my family there makes it even more important to me. Conversations about living in Utah typically go as follows:

Me: "Yeah I lived in Utah for a hot minute and I visited every summer growing up."
Other Person: "Oh, are you Mormon?"
Me: "No"
Other Person: "Oh, well did you like it there?"

The truth is, I love it there! My family that is there is a huge part of that, but it is also absolutely gorgeous, which is probably a funny statement coming from a San Diegan. Well, if you've never been, it is a whole different kind of beautiful. The mountains are stunning, there are lakes everywhere and all four seasons are just gorgeous in their own right.

The reason I am telling you all of this is because I am going for a visit next week and I am so stinkin' excited. I have not had the opportunity to visit in the summer since I moved home. I went for a couple of days last year in early June, but it was for my cousin's graduation so it was a bit rushed. I started working for a company who's busy season was during the summer right when I moved home and now with Tony's schedule the way it is, we prefer to go together during the winter. This year my mom mentioned going and I thought it might be nice to get away for a mid-season break from the fairs, so my mom and Brucy are graciously letting me crash their time with the rest of the family.

It really is my second home. I know that because whenever I go, I don't get that anxious excited feeling that you get when you go on vacation. Instead, I get a warm-fuzzy excitement. There is definitely no place like home, but it's nice to have another place that is a close second.

I hope your day is as beautiful as you are!

All The Stripes

,

Dress: Brigitte Bailey | Clutch (similar style): Street LevelChelsea 28 | Wedges: Halogen | Earrings: Nadri | Bracelet (similar style): Nadri | Lip Color: Bare Minerals

My cute cousin got engaged last week and I am so so thrilled for her and her fiance. She grew up here in San Diego and moved to Nebraska a few years ago for love (insert heart eye emoji here). It was super hard to watch her leave and it has been difficult having her so far away, but she came for a visit a few weeks back and she is so stinkin' happy that it's contagious. She has made quite the life for herself there and nothing makes my heart happier than to see her happy. I can't wait to help her plan this wedding even if it is from afar. She and T met on Instagram so I'm definitely hoping for some Insta inspired touches!

I am not huge on bold stripes, especially not horizontal ones but when this dress arrived the other day I was smitten. The mix of stripes make it so much more interesting and we all know how much I love a good swing dress. The halter-like neckline is very flattering, but the added strappy details in the back really top it off just right. It is a crepe-like material, so it is great for travel as it won't highlight wrinkles. I paired it with a comfortable pair of black wedges for a not-so-dressy date night look as well as my little black clutch.

I hope your day is as beautiful as you are!

Blessings

Tunic: Lucy Love | Jeans: Blank NYC | Shoes: Steve Madden | Purse (similar styles):  MCMMarc JacobsSalvatore Ferragamo |  Lip Color: Bare Minerals in Juju | Earrings (dup): Nadri |Bracelet: Blushes and Gold | Bracelet (similar style): Nadri | Middle Finger Ring (dup): Nadri

We have officially made it through opening weekend of the Orange County Fair. We employ around 140 people seasonally, which I'm sure you can imagine is a bit tough to do. My sweet husband does the majority of the hiring for our local employees (we have about 60 that travel with us throughout the season), and hiring, training and relying on 80 people for one month is nothing short of a miracle from God. So far this season has gone so smooth and we both feel blessed that we are constantly seeing His blessings shine through. Let me just tell you that prayer is a powerful powerful thing! I don't do a ton for our fair business directly, so you could totally say that what is going on with it is not my problem, but having Tony come home every night after working 12 to 16 hours straight can either be wonderful or completely stressful, depending on how things are going. This wife's heart has been so happy to see him so happy lately and I am just so thankful for that.

This is a tunic if I've ever seen one! It is super soft and I love that it is long in the front and back but has such high peaks on the sides. It is perfect to keep around for when you have thrown on just a plain old tee one too many times. The vertical subtle stripes make it a bit more flattering and I love a good v-neck. I paired it with my favorite everyday skinnies and these quilted faux leather slip-ons, which are perfect for all-day wear.

I hope your day is as beautiful as you are!

New Lip Obsessesion

Top: Bo Beau | Jeans: DL 1961 | Wedges: Charles By Charles David | Purse (similar styles):  MCMMarc JacobsSalvatore Ferragamo |  Lip Color: Bare Minerals in Juju | Earrings (dup): Nadri |Bracelet: Blushes and Gold | Bracelet (similar style): Nadri | Middle Finger Ring (dup): Nadri

I am not one to typically wear Bare Minerals but I wandered into their store the other day with my cousin because she needed to pick something up. The really nice sales lady started telling us about their new long wear matte lip colors and I fell in love. I own several of the matte stains and they are great and all (Anastasia is my fav), but they are so stinkin' drying that they are definitely not for everyday use. Bare Minerals' new line isn't a stain and definitely doesn't stay as long, but it is rich looking and stays plenty long enough for my liking. Their colors are more of a creamy matte which is so gorgeous and their line consists of a larger normal range of colors at the moment, instead of the overwhelming level of oh-so-bright or disgustingly-nude colors most brands have. On top of everything else I love about them, they wear evenly instead of having a hard line of stain left behind where some oily food may have destroyed your perfect lip (which gives you time to finish conversation and dinner without feeling like you need to run to the bathroom because you probably only have half a lip on).  I walked out of the store with Juju and it is what I have on in the pictures above.

This is such a perfect summer outfit. I love the neckline on this top and again with the embroidery!! Bo Beau has a thing with tassel ties at the neck and I totally approve. The cut of this top is perfect to either criss-cross your bra straps or wear a racer back bra. which is wonderful because as much as I love my sticky bras, they don't mix with a super hot day (hello sweaty mess). I paired this top with my favorite white jeans and a new pair of nude wedges. These wedges are super comfortable and I love the mix of cork and braided rope on the actual wedge. It is everything I love about summer all wrapped up into one shoe.

I hope your day is as beautiful as you are!!

Oh Chambray!

Dress: Mavi Jeans | Crossbody Bag (similar style): Phase 3 | Earrings (dup): Nadri |Bracelet: Blushes and Gold | Bracelet (similar style): Nadri | Middle Finger Ring (dup): Nadri | Lipstick: Anastasia Beverly Hills in Dolce

We were home for the weekend, which is a total rarity for fair season, and it was the absolute best weekend to be home. One of my best friends had her first baby on the 6th and they are home settling in now so we were able to stop by and meet little Ruby. She is one of the most darling newborns I have ever seen. She cooked a little longer than they thought she was going to and she came out with pudgy cheeks and a full head of hair, totally not your typical alien looking newborn. She is sooo stinkin' precious!! It was so sweet to see Brent and Kaley in their new roles as parents. They are total naturals! What a blessing it is to watch couples that are truly on God's path become parents. Congratulations to two of our favorite people on becoming a family of three! We love you guys!

Chambray! Oh chambray! I adore all things chambray, but seriously this dress takes it to a whole new level! It is the softest chambray I have ever felt. I mean, the tag even says so. It is a great length and the tie at the waist is perfection. It is super flattering and even has a keyhole/triangle opening in the back which is darling as well. I have a feeling this dress is going to be worn out by the time the summer is over. I paired it with camel colored everything here and I could not be happier with this little get-up. Ugh... all the heart eye emoji's

I hope your day is as beautiful as you are!!

I'm Back

Dress: Sequin Hearts | Heels: Steve Madden | Clutch (similar style): Sole Society | Lip Color: Bare Minerals in Juju | Earrings: Nadri | Bracelet (similar style): Nadri

Sorry for my absence. We have been dealing with a few things personally that I may or may not write about at some point. It was important for me to take a step back and really give my personal life my absolute full attention. Thank you for bearing with me. I plan on being back as regular as possible moving forward, but sometimes life happens and things are just completely unforeseen.

I ordered this dress a couple of weeks ago and immediately fell in love with it. Is it just me or does beautiful embroidery make your heart go pitter-patter also? After feeling the quality of this dress and seeing how gorgeous the embroidery was I had to do a double-take on the price. I mean, $52 isn't typically a steal but embroidery doesn't come cheap especially not on a fully lined, detail backed dress. This is such a sweet date night look and it's perfect to have around for occasions this summer. I paired it here with my go-to ankle strap heels and some simple silver jewelry.

I hope your day is as beautiful as you are!
