A Glimpse of Fall

Cardigan: Billabong | Tee: Merona | Jeans: Paige Denim | Heels: Hinge | Earrings: Nadri | Bracelet (similar style): Nadri

So, it  finally felt like fall... for a whole day here in SoCal! To say I was excited is a ridiculous understatement! I have been dying to wear this gorgeous plaid cardigan and it was finally cool enough to. It is super lightweight so it's perfect for the up-and-down weather we've been having. I  paired it with my favorite white scoop neck tee, skinny jeans and these lace-up thick heeled sandals that I've had around for a while. I  plan on getting a ridiculous amount of use out of this cardigan this season.  Bring on the constant cool weather!

I haven't had a new post since we were home on Monday and Tuesday, but we had the nicest time relaxing and celebrating Tony's birthday this past "weekend". On Monday we got together with Tony's family and my mom and Brucy for dinner and a little celebration for the birthday boy. On Tuesday we were able to catch up on a few things around the house and then we spent the remainder of the day renting movies and laying on the couch. It was heavenly! I made some grilled cheese sandwiches and homemade tomato soup for dinner. I will be sure to share the recipe here soon because it is pretty phenomenal if I do say so myself and suuuuuper easy.  Although, it wasn't cold, it had been rained all day so nothing sounded better than a warm, hearty, home-cooked meal. It is the perfect recipe for the cold weather that is hopefully on the way.

I hope your day is as beautiful as you are!

Cozy Night Out

1. Dress: ASTR (40% Off) | 2. Sweater: BoBeau (40% Off) | 3. Booties: BCBGeneration (40% Off)| 4. Bracelets: Target (70% Off) | 5. Ring: Rampage (65% Off) | 6. Purse: Cesca (50% Off)  | 7. Necklace: Target (70% Off)

You know those nights when you really need to get out of the house, but you would really like to stay cuddled up on the couch under that amazing sherpa throw from Costco? Well, I mostly stay in on those nights too, but if you happen to end up going out, this outfit is a great option and it's ALL on SALE! Pairing a knit body con dress with an oversized cozy sweater is definitely the way to go. These booties have a low enough heel to remain comfortable through the night and this crossbody bag can be used as is or as a clutch. I paired this outfit with some cool toned silver jewelry. To me, this screams dinner at that trendy new Italian restaurant down the street. So, what do you say? Go eat that pasta!

I am super excited to be heading to Glen Ivy later this week with my cute momma. It will be a fun day of relaxation. Glen Ivy is a hot spring and spa smack dab between the LA Fairgrounds and where my mom lives so it is a great place for us to meet and have a little time for the ladies. They have mineral baths, a red clay mud pool, a saline pool, hot and cold plunge pools, and a lazy lounge pool, which is where we will probably be most of the day. My mom is my bestie and we only see her once every other week on average during the fair season, but it always feels rushed or busy, so this will be the perfect opportunity for us to catch up and relax. I am really looking forward to it!

I hope your day is as beautiful as you are!

Dress: Xhilaration | Wedges: Charles by Charles David | Clutch (similar style): Rebecca Minkoff | Lip Color: Bare Minerals in Juju | Earrings (similar style): Kate Spade |Bracelet: Blushes and Gold | Bracelet (similar style): Nadri | Middle Finger Ring (dup): Nadri

Clearly, I cannot get enough of the bold floral prints that are everywhere right now. Cold shoulder anything is so perfect for transitioning into fall since you can still wear long sleeves but have a flirty bare shoulder. I wore this outfit to date night at a little mom and pop restaurant up the way the other night. I dressed it down a little for the occasion by pairing it with some espadrille inspired wedges, but this $25 dress can definitely be dressed up for a fancier night out with a sassy pair of heels. These particular wedges are on sale at the moment so grab them and put them away for the spring. I also went with a nude clutch and gold accessories to keep the warm tones going.

It's Tony's birthday tomorrow. I don't know about you, but I love to make a huge deal about birthdays. They are the one day a year that is solely yours and you should be celebrated. Unfortunately, Tony's birthday is during the LA Fair every year which makes it a little difficult to celebrate, but we definitely make the most of it (more on that later). I asked him the other day how he feels about being turning one year older. He gave me a re-cap of everything good in his life and he did not have one negative word to say about his birthday approaching. He is a true example of how aging should be looked at. He has accomplished so much and is beyond happy, so why should another candle on the cake be a negative? How you feel about aging speaks volumes about how you feel about your life. I mean, of course, I know physically aging can be rough at times, but beyond that, your age is what you make it. I hope everyone has the happiest of birthday's and that you add that candle proudly.

I hope your day is as beautiful as you are!

"Healthy" Chocolate Chip Cookies

These cookies are my absolute favorite to keep around for when I need something sweet, but I am trying to behave. There are quite a few similar recipes out there, but like my not-so-healthy chocolate chip cookies I have mixed and matched a bunch of them and this is now my go-to "healthy" chocolate chip cookie recipe. Below are step-by-step instructions with pictures, but if you want the straight forward recipe just scroll all the way to the bottom.

As most of you know, we live in a trailer off and on for business part of the year, so that really gorgeous wallpaper (totally sarcastic) is definitely not something I picked. However, this recipe is so easy that it is one I often whip up in the limited space I have in our trailer.

The first thing you want to do is cut up the bananas into small chunks so they are easier to mash. Make sure you use bananas that are pretty ripe. The riper they are, the easier they are to mash.

After you mash the bananas, measure out all additional ingredients except the chocolate chips into the same bowl.

Because I am limited on tools in the trailer, I use a whisk to mix all of the ingredients together. I start by mashing them together to break down the bananas a bit more and then I mix everything with more of a traditional whisking motion.

Add the chocolate chips into the batter and mix until everything is well incorporated.

Your batter should look something like this when you're finished.

The consistency will seem a bit runny and it will definitely be sticky and wet but it should be thick enough to hold the shape you make. If it is too runny just add a little more oats to the batter and mix well. I use an underfilled 1/4 measuring cup to scoop my cookie batter. I then roll the batter into balls, drop them onto a non-stick cookie sheet and pat them down to be the size I want. These cookies will not spread or rise so make sure you get them to the exact size and shape that you want.

Bake them at 350 degrees for 8-10 minutes. They are delicious hot out of the oven but I like them even better cold out of the fridge the next day.

  • 2 medium bananas
  • 1 1/2 cup quick oats
  • 3 tablespoons natural peanut butter
  • 2 tablespoons maple syrup
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips
  1. Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees
  2. Cut bananas into small slices into a bowl
  3. Mash bananas until they are a rough puree consistency
  4. Add oats, peanut butter, maple syrup, cinnamon, vanilla, salt and milk into the same bowl
  5. Mash and mix everything together until it is well incorporated
  6. Add chocolate chips and mix well
  7. Use a 1/4 cup measuring cup to measure out batter and form the batter into a ball
  8. Place dough ball onto non-stick cookie sheet and pat dough down into desired shape and size (dough will not spread or rise)
  9. Bake cookies for 8-10 minutes
  10. Enjoy hot out of the oven or store overnight and enjoy them cold out of the refrigerator

I hope your day is as beautiful as you are!

Business Sassy

1. Top: Mossimo (70% Off) | 2. Necklace: Target (65% Off) | 3. Shoes: Faryl (50% Off) | 4. Clutch: Tevolio (50% Off) | 5. Pants: R+J Couture (50% Off)

This entire outfit is only $70! I would say that's a steal especially for how much versatility each of these pieces offer. I absolutely love the color of these pants. I added in a little more color with the blue and green hues of the necklace and I kept everything else super chic with a black top and black satin heels and clutch. These pants can be used for date night with a skin tight tucked tank, sassy ankle strap heels and a long statement necklace, while the top can move effortlessly into a fall weekend with leggings, a pair of knee-high boots and a scarf. A black clutch should be a staple in any closet, but if you don't already have one, this one is under $10! Please don't forget to tuck that top in for the office ladies!

We are heading home today after a 15 day stint in LA. We will only be home for about a day and a half, but I will take anything at this point. The LA Fair has gotten off to a great start, mostly thanks to how relatively cool it has been (thank you God). Usually the heat is absolutely unbearable at this point in our season but temperatures have only been from high 80's to the low 90's. Sine people don't eat anything but ice cream when it is hot at the fair, weather really affects our business. Hopefully it will stay cool from here on out. It would be a great way to end the SoCal part of our season.

I hope your day is as beautiful as you are!

Vacation Plans

1. Earrings: Bauble Bar (40% Off) | 2. Bracelet: Cara (40% Off) | 3. Purse: BP (40% Off) | 4. Dress: Mossimo (70% Off) | 5. Jacket: Old Navy (24% off) | 6. Shoes: BCBGeneration (40% Off)

You guys!!! This dress is under $9 and it's stocked in every size! It doesn't get much better than that! You could definitely pair it with ankle straps and a clutch to dress it up a little, but I decided to go with a more casual utility style night time look. This is absolutely perfect for meeting up with the ladies for a little happy hour. The denim jacket adds texture and makes this outfit casual while these gorgeous booties send it over the edge. Ugh, I love everything about this and ALL of these items are on sale right now!

It's official! We booked our end of season vacation for October. I can't believe we are only 45 days away from being completely done with fair season 2016! Cabo here we come! There is nothing better than having a vacation to look forward to in general, but when it comes to fair season, I have found that it is the best way to keep me going through LA and Fresno. I cannot wait to give you a full review of the beautiful resort we will be staying at. Until then, I will be dreaming of sandy beaches and icebergs with my love.

I hope your day is as beautiful as you are!
