Backpack: BP (33% Off) | 8. Yoga Pants: Zella (33% Off) | 9. Jeans: AG (60% Off) | 10. Sweater Dress: BP (40% Off) | 11. Heels: BCBGeneration (60% Off)

It's the second best sale of the year... The Nordstrom Half Yearly Sale. I decided to throw together my picks for the sale this week instead of a sale outfit. I hope you enjoy!

I picked a lot of neutrals in this spread and they are all so true to what I have been craving lately. The grey, black and white tones are great for winter this year as I have leaned a lot more towards cool tones. Even the rosy pink turtleneck sweater dress is such a nice cool tone and can easily be complemented with some gorgeous grey hues. The navy dress that I have included is a great piece to have around for special occasions year round. Navy is such a classic color and a slightly more fun take the ol' LBD. If you have hung around these parts for a while then you know I am obsessed with all things Zella for workout wear and these sale pieces are no exception. I mean, how fun are those yoga pants and can you beat a perfectly loose fitting tank to go with? The jeans above are AG brand, under $100 and fully stocked. If you aren't familiar with AG, this is a rarity and I say jump on this deal as quickly as possible. I also love the backpack for busy outings and mostly because I was wishing I had one at the zoo earlier this week. It is a great bag to have around. Last, but definitely not least are the gorgeous lace inspired heels. I have featured them in a previous sale post but now they are priced under $40. If you do not shop Nordstrom as much as some of us (guilty!!), they have free shipping both ways so don't hesitate to take advantage of these great sales online as you probably won't find most of these things in particular sizes in store.

I hope your day is as beautiful as you are!

A Splash of Wine and Our Christmas Plans

1. Earrings: Charming Charlie (20% Off) | 2. Top: Madewell (20% Off) | 3. Purse: Halogen (50% Off) | 4. Booties: Mossimo (30% Off) | 5. Jacket: Kut from Kloth (40% Off) | 6. Jeans: Joe's (40% Off)

How pretty is this jacket? This wine color is one of my favorites for fall/winter and this style of jacket will definitely be one that you will get some longevity out of. That cut not going anywhere anytime soon. Joe's jeans are a recent favorite of mine and to find a pair that is on sale AND fully stocked in sizes is pretty awesome! You may recognize these booties from this post or this post. I own them in the cognac color they come in (which is gorgeous) and they happen to be on sale through Saturday night so make sure you snatch them while they are 30% off. They are super sassy and so comfortable for how high their heel is. I paired this outfit with some straight dangly earrings which can help elongate your face and make it appear thinner which is perfect for me this time of year (I seriously can't so no to any baked goods right now).

So, here is what our next few days look like... Tonight we are heading to church for a Christmas Eve Eve service. We recently started attending this church and I was thrilled when I found out that they offered a service on the 23rd. We have tons of family so it has always been tough to make it to church on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day, which I always bums me out. I mean, He is the reason for the season after all! After the service, we are having a handful of people over to our house for a little dessert. On Saturday we will be heading to Tony's brother's house for a Christmas Eve celebration. I believe the head count is 45 at the moment, but that could always grow. With there being so many of us, we went to the gift exchange game a few years back and it has worked out nicely. Of course, we still spoil all of the kids with tons of presents so it will be fun to watch them unwrap their gifts. Tony and I will have Christmas morning to ourselves. We have had it that way since we got married and I cherish that time just to relax and drink in our special moments together. Growing up it was always just my mom, my dad and me on Christmas morning and those are some of my greatest memories, so I hope to have that for our kids one day (God willing). We will head to my mom's house for Christmas dinner, gifts and probably a round of Head's Up. There will be about 10 of us there and it is always such a sweet time. At some point in the day, we will also head go over to our sister-in-law's mom's house where the rest of Tony's family will be celebrating Christmas Day and our niece's birthday (she's a Christmas baby). Whewf... that's a lot, but I am so looking forward to all of it. What does your weekend look like?

Merry Christmas!!

Amping Up That Holiday Cheer

Dress: One Clothing | Scarf (similar style): BP | Boots: Ugg | Bag (similar style): Halogen   | Earrings (similar style): Nadri | Bracelet (similar style): Nadri | Lip Pencil: MAC in Soar | Lip Color: Bare Minerals in Juju

This dress is a great staple for fall and winter. It is a ribbed cotton with quite a bit of sway to it. It comes in four colors and is under $40. The length is great and it is the perfect jumping off point for several outfits. I had been searching all of my usual shopping stops for a gray scarf and I finally crossed paths with this one. Unfortunately, it is now sold out. They replaced it with the same cut of scarf with a blue and gray pattern, which is funny because I was originally hoping for something with some blue in it. I've linked that scarf above. I paired this outfit with the same Ugg boots that I can't get enough of. As long as it is cold enough outside (which is has been for us), you can find me wearing these beauties. They are close to selling out so make sure you get your hands on a pair before they are gone. You may have noticed the lip combo I am wearing has been my go-to cool color combination lately. I am not typically a fan of Bare Mineral products but this new lip line they have out is phenomenal and I can't get enough of this color.

Last night we went on a little date night with Tony's parents to California Pizza Kitchen and to see some Christmas lights. We went to the neighborhoods that I mentioned in this post. Nights like those are such sweet memories and super fun for all of us. Tony's parents no longer drive so taking them out for the night is really sweet on all accounts. We of course stopped to get the obligatory warm drink from Starbucks and did tons of oohing and awwwing at our community's display of Christmas cheer. It was the perfect way to amp up our holiday spirit leading up to this Sunday and definitely something I recommend doing with  your loved ones this week.

I hope your day is as beautiful as you are!

Last Minute San Diego Holiday Festivities

Like I have been saying all season long, I am so late with everything this year. I figured if you are having a year that has been anything like mine then you would appreciate an update on what is still going on for the holidays here in San Diego. I also, sprinkled in a few pictures of our Christmas decor. I hope you enjoy!

Grabbing a Starbucks and cruising around town to see lights are always a must for us. The best part about this holiday tradition is that it requires zero planning. Our favorite stops in our area are Candy Cane Lane in Poway (12612 Stoutwood St., Poway, CA 92064) and Christams Card Lane in Rancho Penasquitos (9106 Ellingham St, San Diego, CA 92129). If you are closer to the downtown area and looking for light viewing with a bit more involved, The Hotel Del Coronado (1500 Orange Ave, Coronado, CA 92118) does a whole display called DELights and it is pretty spectacular! In the north county coastal city of Encinitas, the San Diego Botanic Gardens (230 Quail Gardens Drive, Encinitas, CA 92024) have been completely transformed into a winter wonderland. It is a really fun time of year to visit the gardens but they are gorgeous year round as well.

Another favorite thing of mine to do during the holiday season is take in a play or two. My all time favorite for the family is How the Grinch Stole Christmas at the Old Globe Theatre in Balboa Park. This play is always very whimsical and done so well with a mixed cast of adults and kids. I mean, these kids are downright impressive. Side note: Kids under the age of three are only allowed to attend the 11 AM performances. We also love eating at the Prado in Balboa Park. The food is delicious, there is a great view and it is just a quick stroll over to the theater after. Tickets are still available for showtimes this week but they are a bit scarce so I would jump on it if I were you.

On friday we went to the Cygnet Theater to see A Christmas Carol and it was phenomenal. The cast was limited and they all played a bunch of parts which was incredibly impressive and seamless. If you have not seen this show here I highly recommend it.

If you are looking to fill an entire day The San Diego Zoo, Sea World and Legoland all do spectacular jobs on their Christmas decor and fun holiday spirit throughout the parks. They will definitely be busy this week, but what isn't busy around this time?

If you are still itching for a bit more Christmas fun once the day has actually come and gone, the Port of San Diego Holiday Bowl Parade is on December 27th at 10 AM. It is a nice event to bridge your holiday season between Christmas and New Year's Eve. It is full of marching bands, floats and has the largest installment of balloons in the nation.

I hope your day is as beautiful as you are!

5 Shades of Blue

1. Bracelet: Charter Club (25% Off) | 2. Dress: Top Shop (40% Off) | 3. Heels: Sam Edelman (40% Off) | 4. Earings: Nina (30% Off) | 5.Clutch: INC (25% Off)

Some of us are super last minute when it comes to the holidays this year (insert girl hand raised emoji here). So, if you are anything like me, this is a great little holiday outfit that will suit quite a few occasions including New Year's. All of these items are on sale and I thought it would be a fun little twist to throw a bunch of blues into the holiday mix of mostly reds and emerald green. It is hard to tell in the picture but this dress is actually a dark navy which helps marry all of these gorgeous hues together. I own these heels in a different color and they are very comfortable and absolutely wonderful for being the life of the party or the hostess with the mostest! When I saw this clutch my eyes just about popped out of my head! I mean, seriously how perfect is it for a side of sass. It would also go great as a pop of color with a monochrome black look. These retailers have super quick shipping so if you order by the end of the weekend you should have everything no later than Friday.

Now that I am done with Christmas shopping, the present wrapping has begun. Is your house covered in glitter like mine? I mean, it is a bit much this year! Tony is practically afraid of it and I don't blame him. The stuff gets EVERYWHERE!! We are going on a date with my mom and Brucy tonight. It has become a tradition to go out for a nice dinner and take in a Christmas show of sorts. Previously we have seen live music shows, but we are switching it up this year and seeing a play, The Christmas Carol. Creating memories like these are so fun and what being filled with holiday cheer should really be about.

I hope your day is as beautiful as you are!

Checking Things Off

Boots: Ugg | Jacket: BlankNYC | Top: Merona |  Jeans: Joe's | Earrings (similar style): Nadri | Necklace (similar style): Nadri | Bracelet (similar style): Nadri | Lip Pencil: MAC in Soar | Lip Color: Bare Minerals in Juju

I am so excited that it has finally been cold enough here in San Diego to wear these boots. I picked them up a few months back and they have been taunting me ever since. I could go all day in these things! They are so darn comfortable! They have an appropriate heel height, but it is a thick heel so it makes them feel much shorter than they appear. They also have the cushy Ugg footbed which makes them nice and warm and since my feet are always freezing, it's perfect! This jacket is another item I was finally able to break out after owning for a minute. I love the hybrid between faux leather jacket and waterfall cardigan. It is super cozy but also very durable. It goes great with jeans or even a body contouring dress. I have it paired here with my favorite white tank because as "cold" as it is, it's still not quite cold enough during the day to truly bundle up.

I finally finished decorating my Christmas tree!! I don't know why I feel so behind this year. I mean, being sick the first week of December did not help at all, but I feel like I just want to get everything done so I can literally stare at my Christmas tree, hot cocoa in hand and just drink in the season. In order to do that though, I actually have to get everything done (haha). I have just about finished my shopping list thanks to a day of shopping with my momma yesterday, so now I really just need to tackle the present wrapping bit. I have yet to ship presents to my family in Utah, but hopefully, that will be happening by the end of today. How is your Christmas checklist coming along?

I hope your day is as beautiful as you are!

Hot Cocoa and Christmas Pajamas

I know, you wish you could jump through the screen and drink this hot cocoa. Yes, you are absolutely right. It is definitely as good as you are thinking it is. Now, I can't take credit for this one. Tony is phenomenal in the kitchen and I am so thankful for that, especially this time of year! This masterpiece is a tradition that Tony makes for us while we decorate our Christmas tree. It is made up of hot cocoa in a mug rimmed with marshmallow cream and crushed graham crackers, topped with blowtorch roasted marshmallows and finished with a candy cane that melts into the hot cocoa giving it the most delicate minty flavor. I left you the full recipe below. Enjoy and make sure you pay extra close attention to step 11!

It is another tradition for me to always get super comfy holiday pajamas and when I saw Target's offerings this year, I got soooo excited! Unfortunately, this exact pair is sold out, but I linked similar ones above that are equally as cute. They are terribly comfortable and will definitely boost your holiday spirit! They run small so size up. That's not even the best part... These slippers deserve all of the heart eye emojis ever! They are so cozy that if I am home you can pretty much guarantee they are on my feet. As if the cable knit they have going on isn't cute enough, the fuzzy balls on the side just send them over the top. Oh, and they are only $15!!! I mean, I get that I am a full grown woman and all, but if there is ever a time to have super fun loungewear, it is the holidays! So, let your cutesy cozy girl flag fly sooo high!!

Tony's World Renown Hot Cocoa
Makes 4 Servings

- 1/2 Cup Cocoa Powder
- 6 1/4 Cups Milk
- 1/3 Cup Chocolate Chips
- 2 Tbsp. Sugar
- 1 tsp. Vanilla Extract
- 1 tsp. Cinnamon
- A pinch of Salt
- Lots Of Mini Marshmallows
- 1/2 Package Graham Crackers, crushed
- 1 Cup Marshmallow Creme
- 4 Candy Canes

1. Melt the chocolate chips by placing a glass bowl over a boiling saucepan of water or a double boiler if you have one. Whisk the chocolate once it starts to melt, until smooth.

2. Once the chocolate is fully melted temper it by adding one cup of the milk about a quarter cup at a time, whisking constantly until fully incorporated. Set aside momentarily

3. In a medium sized saucepan (you can use the same one as in step one, just dump the water) over medium-low heat, combine milk, tempered chocolate, cocoa powder, sugar, cinnamon, salt and vanilla and whisk to combine. Bring to a simmer and continue to simmer for at least 10 minutes, whisking occasionally.

4. While you are waiting for the hot cocoa to be done, prepare your mugs.

5. Smooth about a 1/2 inch thick layer of marshmallow creme onto a plate (wide enough to encompass the mouth of your mug).

6. Place your mug top side down into the marshmallow and twist to coat the rim.

7. Place crushed graham crackers into a bowl and dip the marshmallow creme rimmed mug into the graham crackers. You may need to help these stick a bit by pressing them into the marshmallow.

8. Pour hot chocolate into prepared mug. Make sure to use some sort of pitcher with a pretty fine pouring spout as to not wash the crumbs off of the edge of the mug.

9. Top with as many mini marshmallows as your heart desires and roast them using a kitchen torch, or as we like to use in our house, a blowtorch from good ol' Home Depot.

10. Place a candy cane in the side and voila!!

11. Turn on Christmas music and talk about all of the things you are thankful for as you sip this delicious treat!

Holiday Red

Dress: BB Dakota | Coat (similar style): Forever 21 | Heels: Steve Madden | Clutch (similar style): Merona | Bracelet: Nadri | Earrings: Nadri | Ring: Nadri | Lip Pencil: MAC in Soar | Lip Color: Bare Minerals in Juju

We all know how much I love a good shift dress and what better for the holidays than this one? The lace practically looks like poinsettias and that vibrant red screams Christmas! The sleeves split gorgeously which allows the lace to lay so delicately on your arms which is actually quite flattering. This dress runs big so definitely size down. I went classic with this outfit pairing it with black heels, a black clutch and gold accessories. Nordstrom has free shipping both ways and it only takes a few days so it's perfect timing if you are looking for something for next weekend or the following.

We finally got our Christmas tree on Tuesday, but we sure are taking our time decorating it. I feel super behind with all things Christmas this year, but I guess it's only the 8th. I guess I just want everything to be decorated so we can savor it forever. I keep threatening that I am going to decorate on November 1st next year and I really just might. I just love Christmas. I mean, I am totally one of those people that starts listening to Christmas music before Thanksgiving. How is your gift shopping and decorating coming along?

I hope your day is as beautiful as you are!

Office Reveal

Oh my goodness, I am so so excited to share my incredibly inspiring and peaceful re-decorated workspace with you! It has quickly become my favorite room in our home. I used to work off of our dining table which is super uncomfortable and when we have company I used to have to uproot anything I was working on. This room was really used as storage and I used the mirrored closet to sit and get ready in the mornings. I still get ready in the office, but it is so much more than that now. Links to most items pictured are at the very bottom of this post.

This project all started with this chair. I fell in love with the color as it is very similar to the scheme I use here on the blog. When I was trying to decide on what the rest of the room should look like, I thought why not just follow through and have the entire room be inspired by the blog since it is where I would be writing it anyhow? It was settled. I went with a palette of aqua, gold, black and white. The next step when painting a room is Benjamin Moore paint! This is not a sponsored post. Benjamin Moore paint is just so amazing that I could shout it from the rooftops! It is definitely pricier than most paints, but completely worth it! Any color we have ever painted has only required one coat of Ben Paint (their base level of paint). Color swatches can definitely help you get close to what you are going for, but I cannot stress how important it is to test your colors on the wall and view them in all different types of lighting throughout the day. I literally changed my mind 10 times. I ended up going with "Iced Green" and I could not be happier with it.

Paint is a funny thing. Anyone that has ever painted knows that it is the prep that takes the most time and that could not be truer for this project. I prepped and painted this entire room myself. Tony, of course, offered to help and even do it for me several times (he's the sweetest), but it was one of those projects I just needed to do myself. Our house was built in 1971 and the walls show it. I got the texture as smooth as I could using sand paper. I used ScotchBlue Platinum to edge the room for the first time and absolutely loved it. It has a little stretch to it which can help you keep your lines super clean. It took me about a week of a few hours here and there to finally finish it and I definitely don't have any desire to paint again for a while. I am so thrilled with the finished product and here it is...

This is my little get-ready area. It has tons of light and the gold mirror makes me feel extra glam. I thought about getting a vanity for this room but I have always gotten ready criss-cross-applesauce on the floor and I could not really picture it any other way.

This is a top view of my desk. It is plenty of workspace for me and the drawers on the left are perfect for files and supplies. There is nothing better than fresh flowers in your workspace. I didn't realize how important it was to have such an inspiring workspace until after it was done, but even if it is a desk in the corner of your living room, make it a space you love!

We lack some storage in our home so adding a clothes rack to this space with all of my new blog pieces was a no brainer. That is Tony's diploma on the wall. As much as this is primarily my workspace, since he works outside of the home, it is still used by him quite a bit and displaying his diploma, was extremely important for us as a family. Next to it is a caricature that I had drawn for our first dating anniversary that depicts how we met. I'll have to tell that story in depth some other time. This storage piece is super easy to put together and it is the perfect height for an additional surface in the space.

Here is another look at my desk and chair that I adore so much. The desk was a bit challenging to assemble, but totally worth it. Ikea has a really cool system for desks. You pick out the surface from a selection of different colors, materials and lengths and then you pick out the type of legs and color to go with. I chose a set of drawers for the left side of the desk in lieu of legs and it lined up perfectly. I could not be more thrilled with how it turned out.

I am so thrilled and feel so blessed to have this space to work out of and look forward to continuing to be inspired.

Quite a few of these items were purchased at HomeGoods, which you can't shop online, but I have linked some similar ones below. If the item is not the exact item pictured I have notated it using an asterisk (*).
