Big (Tiny) Announcement

It has definitely been a minute... or five, but for good reason. WE ARE HAVING A BABY!! I am in my 23rd week as I type this and baby girl blonde (as in Following the Blonde, let's not joke, she will probably have dark hair like daddy) is due New Year's Day! We are over the moon and just so beyond thankful for this bright ray of sunshine after the storm we weathered last summer. This sweet little lady is already so so loved and we are beyond anxious to meet her! Since it's been a while I wanted to fill you all in on a few details with much more to come in the coming weeks.

I know it has been a while and for that, I apologize. I could give you every excuse in the book but to be completely honest I have not felt like blogging one bit until the last couple of weeks and since then it just seems like one thing after another has come up. The other thing that might be entirely shocking is that I have not felt the desire to shop for myself at all since we found out I was pregnant. I know, a fashion blogger who doesn't shop is an oxymoron. I have literally only bought maternity jeans and maternity leggings so there was not much to update anyone on. I am finally outgrowing most of my pre-maternity stuff so it is time to shop a little, which makes blogging a bit more logical.

I was so so sick from about six weeks until about 17 weeks. I have been feeling much better for the past six weeks or so, but I have learned so much about my body and have to really pay attention to what is going on with it in order to feel good. Things like getting sleep, eating enough and drinking enough water have been like a job. If I don't pay extremely close attention to these things I wind up with a headache so debilitating that I finish the day throwing up from the pain and waving the white flag as I climb in bed. They are awful but I have finally gotten a hang of the balance my body needs (for the most part).

Now that I am committed to blogging again, I plan on doing a series of blogs over the next few weeks to catch you up on everything. I hope you enjoy these future posts, but I am also selfishly wanting to remember everything and plan on getting it all written down here.

I have been feeling this little one move since about 18 weeks and lately, she is just a squirmy little worm at certain times of the day. Her daddy has felt her several times now but for the first time on August 12th. It was such a tear worthy moment to get to share that with him, I mean really we both completely lost it.

We are so so excited about this little nugget. God's redemption is beyond sweet. We just feel blessed to have the opportunity to get to be parents and we cannot wait to see the joy and hope this little one brings to our lives. My bump is completely present and mostly out of the "is she or isn't she" stage so that is really exciting! We are currently in Los Angeles for the fair and our season is going really well after a bumpy start, but on our days off we are working on getting things in order at home to transition our guest room into a nursery. We already transitioned our office into a combo guest room/office and we've also just about finished car shopping because momma needs a bigger set of wheels for all of the giant cargo this tiny baby comes with.

As far as the blog goes, I fully plan on getting back into the swing of things now that I am feeling better, but it probably won't be as consistent as it used to be. I am barely getting my desire to shop back and honestly comfort over everything is my motto lately. Hopefully, you will bear with me during this transitional time because I am so excited to share things like her nursery and all the baby gear we have decided on with you, as well as hopefully get some input!

I hope your day is as beautiful as you are!

Weekend Uniform

1. Kimono: Xhilaration (30% Off) | 2. Purse: Miztique (15% Off) | 3. Bracelet: Charming Charlie (30% Off) | 4. Earrings: Charming Charlie (25% Off) | 5. Dress: BP (40% Off) | Heels: BP (15% Off)

I seriously have been wearing an outfit extremely similar to this one on constant repeat lately and it is just the easiest. A simple black dress can go with just about anything, like a cargo vest, jean jacket, a zillion different kimonos... You get the picture. It's a staple. I absolutely love this kimono though. The blushy deep lavender color is so rich and the floral and ruffle details are just perfect. These low lace up heels are the epitome of transitional and they will work perfectly all the way into early fall. I paired the rest of this outfit with black accessories to keep things simple. These pieces are all a great deal right now and all ridiculously versatile. I hope you are enjoying these weekly sale posts. It is the best way to get good deals in front of you before they are sold out.

I hope your day is as beautiful as you are!

Casual Layers

Pullover: Caslon | Jeans: DL1961 | Sneakers: Adidas | Backpack: Topshop | Lip Liner: MAC in Staunchly Stylish | Lip Color: Bare Minerals in Slay

I don't know if your weather is anything like ours here in San Diego, but I find myself changing at least twice if not three times a day to accommodate it. It's brisk in the morning, downright hot during the day and the second the sun sets, it may as well be fall again. Layers are the easiest solution and this grey pullover is the absolute perfect layer to add to your closet for this time of year and even to have on hand for chillier summer nights. It is super lightweight and so sassy with its lace up detail. I have a feeling I will be getting quite a bit of use out of it, especially with the later nights we have coming up with fair season around the corner. If you don't own a pair of these Adidas (which my nephew pronounces Aww-Dee-Dahs) you need them in your life. They are sooooo comfortable with their arch support and generous width. I love the navy color, but they also come in the sweetest baby pink. I paired this outfit with casual white jeans and a convenient backpack that will be perfect for being on the go in the next few weeks.

You guys, we have so much fun stuff going on over the next few weeks. It's May!! My birthday is around the corner, Mother's day is right after that, and this weekend we will be celebrating Tony's parent's 50th wedding anniversary. We think there will be somewhere around 70 people attending this party and it should be a blast celebrating such a huge milestone. Not many people can say that they have been married for 50 years so it is definitely an occasion that deserves to be celebrated to the nines. Tony's parents have four successful, married children, nine grandchildren and are the absolute sweetest. They still play tricks on each other and drive each other crazy on occasion. I am just so thankful for the sweet example of what a successful and happy marriage looks like to all of us. I will probably have a full recap of the event up sometime next week.

I hope your day is as beautiful as you are!

Pop of Floral

1. Earrings: Charming Charlies (25% Off) | 2. Clutch: Charming Charlie (65% Off) | 3. Heels: Steve Madden (15% Off) | 4. Top: BoBeau (40% Off) | 5. Pants: J by JOA (50% Off)

I am totally on a spring kick (I mean, it is spring after all) and these pants caught my attention in a serious way. I love the bold floral print and I decided to pair it with all things pink. This top is perfect for tucking into loose fitting pants and I love the contrast of pairing something loose with a form fitting piece. These heels are show stopping and so perfect for these pants as well. I love this entire look for a sassy night on the town.

I am pretty sure this is our last weekend before Tony starts into setup for our first fair of the season. I have requested that we be extremely lazy on Saturday and he has obliged, but I doubt it will last very long (he's a busy body). We have a few projects to finish up around the house before the season starts, so I'm sure that is what will end up happening. I also would like to fit in a beach walk at some point because it has been gorgeous here. On Sunday we are doing brunch with my dad and then heading to church. He is coming over to make us banana pancakes, my childhood favorite, and I couldn't be more excited about it. What does your weekend look like?

I hope your day is as beautiful as you are!

Oldy but Goody

Dress: Leith | Clutch: Mossimo | Heels: Steve Madden | Necklace: Target | Bracelet: Nadri | Earrings: Nadri | Ring: Nadri | Lipliner: MAC in Edge to Edge | Lip Color: Bare Minerals in Juju

I've had this dress forever. I mean I featured it in one of my very first blog posts in a different color. I purchased it before I even started blogging and it is still fully stocked in several colors. I think that speaks volumes to how timeless it is. Well, I pulled it out of my closet the other day for date night and instantly knew I had to post it. This green is perfect for spring and summer and the racerback cut can be dressed up or down. We all know how much I love a good shift dress, especially for date night (I mean handmade pasta and lots of it is my fav). The straps on this dress are wide enough that you can criss-cross your bra straps and wear it so comfortably. I paired this color with black shoes and black and gold accessories.

My aunt was in town last weekend and we had a blast. I picked her up from the airport and we went to lunch at one of our favorites, Blue Water, for some crab and artichoke dip and tacos and then did a little shopping. We met up with Tony, my mom and Brucy for dinner and had a really relaxing night. On Friday we went up to Glen Ivy Spa for the day... or tried to at least. When they are full they turn you away at the gate which is a real bummer, but they give you a raincheck pass for free entry with a booked service ($50 savings), which will definitely come in handy sometime soon. When we left there we were scouring the internet for something similar to do between Corona and San Diego. We finally landed on renting a cabana at the Pala Resort and Spa. It was $100 for a half day and that includes a cabana for up to six people, non-alcoholic beverages, a fruit platter and butler services. We had a blast and all agreed that we had more fun than we think we would have otherwise. On Sunday we had a beautiful brunch at my mom and Brucy's and then drove the coast for a while. We hiked Torrey Pines and finished the day at our house for dinner and way too many rounds of Scattergories. My aunt left Sunday morning and I miss her terribly, but we had such a sweet visit. It was definitely one for the books.

I hope your day is as beautiful as you are!

Casual Dresses and Sneakers

Dress: BP | Cardigan (similar style): Mossimo | Sneakers (similar style): Nike | Lipliner: MAC in Edge to Edge

The halter style cut has always been flattering for my arms and shoulders and this slightly modified version of it is no different. This baby doll style dress is super comfortable and easy to wear for a casual day out or even around the house. I paired it with a cocoon style cardigan which has a flirty peek-a-boo effect going on with your shoulders and adds some warmth for the drastic change in weather we see as soon as the sun sets. I have been seriously digging sneakers with every dress lately. Since I am not a huge fan of shorts (hello thunder thighs), it is a great way for me to stay casual while still being nice and cool in a dress. This is a super simple outfit, but perfect for many days that lie ahead.

My sweet aunt is coming tomorrow and I am so stinkin' excited! I visited her and her family in Utah in August, but we haven't seen them since. She is coming by herself for some relaxing girl time with my mom and me. We will hit the ground running with some shopping tomorrow followed by a spa day on Friday. On Saturday we plan to do some light hiking and then a big dinner at our house and then she will head out after breakfast on Sunday morning. It will be a quick one, but so nice to have her here and I know she is looking forward to a little rest and relaxation.

I hope your day is as beautiful as you are!

Pool Season

1. Coverup: O'Neill (40% Off) | 2. Top: Billabong (40% Off) | 3. Sandals: Sam & Libby (50% Off) | 4. Bag: Baggu | 5. Beach Towel: Herringbone (10% Off) | 6. Bottoms: Rip Curl (40% Off)

There has not been a cloud in the sky for the past few days and it is supposed to be in the mid 80's here next week, so I thought I would put together a poolside inspired look for this week's "Sale Alert". I love these colors together! Teal and coral are such a springtime match made in heaven. This unconventional bathing suit top is super cute and I don't know anyone who dislikes a pretty floral. The sale prices on these items are so great for anything name brand. Although I broke the rules on the flamingo bag (it's not on sale), it is only $10 and is such a great tote to have around for everything from grocery shopping to heading to the beach. I paired this bathing beauty get-up with some nude sandals that will be perfect for the next two seasons.

Thank God for Good Friday! Tony and I are heading to church tonight for the Good Friday service and are very excited about it. We will also be taking his parents to their church on Saturday night and then we will be back at our church on Sunday morning for the Easter service. We will definitely be having a lot of time at church this weekend. Our sweet niece and nephew (the twins) came down with the stomach flu so their little family won't be with us for Easter, but there will still be 17 or so of us for dinner which will be really sweet. I can't wait to hunt eggs and blow bubbles with our other nieces and nephews and just enjoy a peaceful and grateful day with our family.

I hope your day is as beautiful as you are!

Boho Chic

Blouse: Knox Rose | Tank: Merona | Bag (similar styles): Sole SocietyBP | Jeans: Joe's | Sandals: Merona | Bracelet (similar styles): Charming CharlieCharming Charlie | Lip Color: Bare Minerals in Juju | Lip Pencil: MAC in Staunchly Stylish

How boho chic is this top!?! I love the understated embroidery and the long flowy back. I put a camel colored tank under it and paired it with all camel colored accessories for a seamless look but it could be paired with a zillion colors. I have gotten so much use out of these sandals that are under $33 to begin with. Target is running a buy one get one 50% off deal right now on most of their shoes, so it is the perfect time to snatch a pair of them up.

I know I have talked about it a lot, but Easter is this weekend and I am so excited! I need to finish out our niece's and nephew's Easter baskets, but other than that, I am so ready to have another holiday (the most important of holiday's in my opinion). The family will all be together at Tony's brother's house and it should be a great time. We are total food people and I am super excited for Tony to make his ham. He has been making one for most holidays in the last couple of years and as excited as I am to eat it that day, I am so so so much more excited for the leftovers. I make a loose variation of this recipe with the leftover meat and it is phenomenal! I will have to feature it here soon.

I hope your day is as beautiful as you are!

Spring Has Sprung

1. Earrings: Bauble Bar (40% Off) | 2. Top: Pleione (40% Off) | 3. Purse: Charming Charlie (45% Off) | 4. Ring: Gorjana (50% Off) | 5. Jeans: SL8 (50% Off) | 6.Heels: Vince Camuto (35% Off)

Spring sure has sprung here in San Diego, but it's not quite warm enough for dresses and wedges. So, I feel like a bright off-the-shoulder top and some opened toed shoes are super appropriate for this week's edition of Sale Alert. I love that off-the-shoulder is so in right now, but I kind of get worried that it is just going to slip a little too far down sometimes. This top offers some little straps that don't compromise how cute this trend is and the color is just gorgeous. Since that color is so loud, nude accessories are a perfect match. I don't think I've seen a prettier pair of lace-up, opened-toe booties and they are even easy to get on with a zipper up the back. I topped this look off with simple but sassy gold jewelry.

It's Friday! What are your plans for the weekend? We are headed to church on Sunday for Palm Sunday and then out to brunch with my mom and Brucy. We haven't seen Brucy in a few weeks. He has been on the East Coast training for an awesome new job that we are all super excited about. I think Tony and I are also going to be working on our driveway. We had a massive bush pulled out a few months back and we are going to fill the ditch with brick so we can park one of our cars outside of the garage. We will see how far we get, but it is a pretty large area. Wish us luck.

I hope your day is as beautiful as you are!

T-Shirt Dress for the Win

Dress: Mossimo | Vest: Merona | Sneakers: Converse | Bracelet (similar styles): PanaceaCharming Charlie | Earrings: Nadri | Ring: Nadri | Lip Liner: MAC in Staunchly Stylish | Lip Color: Bare Minerals in Slay

I own several casual black dresses, but most of them are trapeze style which can be a problem when a gust of wind comes along. This dress, however, is total t-shirt style and super soft which is everything my little heart has ever desired in a casual dress. It comes in four colors and I have two of them on order as we speak. It is literally the perfect dress for any casual day in spring and summer. Oh, and did I mention that it is only $20!?! I wore it with an easygoing and figure flattering utility vest, but any cute cardigan or kimono will compliment it perfectly as well. I live in these Converse and I know I have talked about them before, but they have a Nike insole and are super comfortable. Apparently, they are being discontinued and are on sale right now, so catch them while you can. I finished this outfit with a wrap bracelet and other casual gold jewelry.

We were in Palm Springs last weekend visiting our favorite twins... oh and their parents. We had such a relaxing weekend in the pool and just enjoying each other's company. It has quickly become one of our favorite bed & breakfasts (haha). G made us burgers that were out of this world (I mean he ground the beef himself) and M made us shwarma sandwiches that were phenomenal. What can I say, we really love food in this family! Michael and Hannah are growing far too fast and even though we will be seeing them for Easter, I feel like we are constantly missing out on all of these mini-stages they grow in and out of so quickly.

I hope your day is as beautiful as you are!

The More Conference

My mom and I had the privilege of going to a women’s conference a little over a week ago and we had the sweetest time being poured into by the Harvest women’s ministry team and Lysa Terkeurst. You may remember my post from a few weeks back all about the incredible book Lysa wrote that I had just finished. I have read a lot of her work over the past year so when I found out she was speaking about an hour and a half from where I live I jumped at the opportunity to get to hear her live. My sweet momma kindly agreed to make it a girl’s weekend which made it even better. I thought I would recap some of God's incredible truths that Lysa spoke that really stuck with me and how I already see them as being so applicable in my own life. I hope you enjoy.

The first night, she spoke on the three gardens in the Bible and really in time in general. The first being the Garden of Eden, which we see in the very beginning of the Bible that Adam and Eve were lead out of due to the introduction of sin, the second was the garden of Gethsemane, where Christ was betrayed the night before the cross and the final garden was Eden restored, which can be read about in the final chapter of Revelation. That was the basis of what she was teaching us about, but she shared a lot on the fact that the garden of Gethsemane is filled with olive trees. If you don’t know much about olives, well here’s something new for you. First, it is important to understand that these olive trees will not produce fruit unless they have the harsh winds of the east and the refreshing winds of the west. Second, the olives that people enjoy eating are heavily processed in order to not be a bitter and hard fruit. Third, the most valuable part of the olive is its oil which comes from three very hard pressings. The first pressing reaps the most precious oil, which is considered sacred and is used for anointing oil and other holy matters. The second pressing is where we get the oil we use to cook, the everyday oil. The third pressing brings out the oil that is used for light. What an image this is of how God grows us into the people he wants us to be! We too only bear fruit with good times and harsh time (or winds). We too take such a process to become the people He wants us to be. We too must be pressed and pressed to produce what is most precious and valuable to Him. Jesus was surrounded by olive trees in the garden that night and I completely believe that was specifically noted in the Bible for us to understand all of these steps to our journey of becoming more like Him.

Lysa started the next morning with an incredibly inspiring message to help us understand that we are handpicked by God and how important it is that we live with that at the forefront of our minds instead of living in the shadow of those who you may have been overlooked by. What stuck with me most about this session was the simplest guideline to live by. Lysa said, “My job is to be obedient to God and God’s job is everything else.” In other word’s He’s got you!! How refreshing is it to just be able to rest in that? I have been constantly reminding my over analytical, control freak mind of that simple phrase and will continue to do so. It is too easy to get ahead of ourselves and try to control situations and those around us, but all we really need to do is just be obedient. I don’t know about you, but for me it is much easier to digest just being obedient to Him rather than trying to control the outcome of any and every situation.

In Lysa’s last session, she talked about truly trusting God. She used the example of King Jehoshaphat in 2 Chronicles 20 to show that God always has a plan, ALWAYS. When you don’t know what to do, He does. I have questioned his plan especially after walking through the heartbreak that is suffering a miscarriage, but Lysa reminded me of something that truly brought me comfort. She said, “God loves us too much to answer our prayer at any other time but the right time.” We see this played out in so many examples throughout the Bible so I should just know it and trust it, but sometimes I fall off course. He is a good God with a good plan and I have resolved to trust in that plan.

I hope you found the same hope and light in these simple but enormously important truths as I did. Thank you, Lysa Terkeurst for making women your life’s mission and for helping us continually see that we have such a good Father and thank you Harvest Christian church for putting on such a beautiful and needed event.

I hope your day is as beautiufl as you are!

Black and Cognac

Dress: Lush | Sandals: Merona | Headband: Tasha | Bracelet (similar styles): Charming CharlieCharming Charlie | Handbag (similar style): Matt & Nat |  Lip Liner: MAC in Staunchly Stylish | Lip Color: Bare Minerals in Slay| Earrings: Nadri | Ring: Nadri

This dress is so simple and super comfortable, but the laid back details of a single side slit and high neckline make it effortlessly chic. It is one of those dresses that will need to be retired by the end of the fair season because I will probably wear it THAT much. I saw this cognac headband the other day and thought it would be the perfect way to round out this laidback look. I love the braided detail and how dainty it is. I paired this outfit with the $33 sandals that I have been overwearing and a leather cognac detailed bracelet. I wore this number to church and had it paired with this jean jacket and it worked perfectly. I am such a fan of easy these days and this is totally one of those ensembles.

My mom and I had such a sweet time being away together last weekend. We never really stopped talking and I missed her the second she left. I totally own that momma's girl life (don't judge). We were both so filled up with so much of God's truth and I totally needed it. I know I failed on my promise to share some of the nuggets I walked away from the women's conference with, but time totally got away from me on Sunday and before I knew it, it was Tuesday afternoon and I was starting into this post. I hope to have a post all about the incredible words of wisdom from last weekend soon.

I hope your day is as beautiful as you are!

Another Easter Idea

Apparently, I am pushing Easter hard around these parts, but I did warn you all that it is one of my favorite holidays. I love pink and these heels inspired me to build an outfit around them. When I found this almost perfectly matching clutch, I was so excited. The lacey popover dress is under $20 and screams Easter Sunday, while these heels bring it to a whole different sassy level. I accessorized this fun look with some gold and pink jewelry that are a great deal as well.

My mom and I are heading out of town today to a women's retreat at a church a few hours away and we are so excited. One of my favorite author's is speaking, so it should be amazing and I plan on giving a full report on Monday. My mom and I lived together before we both got married (two months apart), so we used to spend tons of time together. She is one of my closest friends and we love hanging out. We see each other about once a week, but I am really looking forward to having some concentrated time with her this weekend. What are your plans for the weekend?

I hope your day is as beautiful as you are!

Easter Dress

Dress: ASTR the Label Wrap: Merona | Heels: Steve Madden | Clutch (similar styles): Charming Charlie, BP | Earrings: Nadri | Ring: Nadri | Lip Pencil: MAC in Staunchly Stylish | Lip Color: Bare Minerals in Juju

Can you believe Easter is right around the corner!?! Buying an Easter dress has always been one of my favorite things. I will never forget the pink floral dress I wore around four years old paired with a white hat with a pink ribbon on it. It is one of my favorite holidays and I always look forward to picking out that super springy dress. This dress stuck out to me when I was doing some shopping a week or so ago and I had to have it. It screams Easter! It is so delicate and feminine with the lace overlay. I love that it has a midi hemline but the liner is short. It makes it a sort of sassy, but church appropriate option. Speaking of church, I paired it with the prettiest periwinkle wrap. It is light, but perfect so you don't get any stares for bare shoulders during communion. I finished this gorgeous number off with understated nude heels and clutch.

I feel like time has been flying lately with no sign of it slowing down. We are just about six weeks out from Tony starting into fair setup and it's all downhill from there. I love fair season, but it seems to be approaching very quickly this year and with a new location at some of our fairs it is a bit daunting. We are so very excited for the business to be growing and can't wait to see where this season takes us. In the meantime we have so many fun things coming up including Easter and Tony's parent's 50th-anniversary party. What are you excited about for the next few months?

I hope your day is as beautiful as you are!
